I'm not sure why anyone would try to make excuses for a moderator who encourages a poster to kill himself. To say nothing of the violent and abusive material in the other posts that he made in the same thread. Indefensible. This was the culmination of a disturbed pattern of behavior that Nym and Dave should have addressed months ago. Maybe no one told them about it.

It was kind of confusing that his behavior never entered our radar.

Very few who declared "won't see any of you again" actually manages to leave for good.

Good call. 

The most impressive "I'm leaving" ever remains Gabu, who managed to make over 28,000 posts in about three and a half years, and then one day said he was leaving, and has managed to stick to that for the past 10 years.

And he did it again.  Saying "posting here is still impossible" and "my presence here and self-respect are incompatible", and then coming back to post again about a month later.

Now that he left the forum, i can only wish him luck.

He hasn't left the forum.  He made this thread last year, and left for a while, but then came back.  He made three posts just yesterday.

You are right: I am an idiot. Apologies for coming back: it was a stupid mistake on my part, will try not to repeat it again. If I stumble again (as I, probably, will), I guess, there are enough despeakable deplorables here to quickly remind me why I should not.
