Hillary (doesn't think racism and anti-Semitism look good on a candidate)

We're talking about actions as candidate, not as president. It's over man, it's not 1974 anymore. Vietnam is over. You can cease hating a dead guy.

Because he totally ceased to be a racist and an anti-Semite during campaigns... Roll Eyes Seriously, I don't like Hillary Clinton but I'd vote for her over Richard Nixon every day.

Nixon managed to convince people that he wasn't a crook. That's quite an achievement.

Actually, he did. Nixon in 1968 (his second run for the presidency, as 2016 is Hillary's) was very likeable.

Nixon managed to get a generation to hate protestors by calling them bums, and get people to believe in a secret plan to end the 'Nam War with no proof, while secretly doing the opposite.

Hillary can't even convince people that nothing happened just because she dared keep her regular email address.

Obviously Nixon's more charismatic here, but this is not a good thing.

Nixon also won against the 1972 Bernie Sanders prototype. I wish Nixon was alive and able to run next year.

Hillary thinks she can just lie and triangulate like her husband, but her husband has a lot more charisma than her. As for Nixon, he clearly had more than her too, given his Checkers speech.

Nixon. Let's see...

1. The "Checkers" Speech.
2. He eventually won a Presidential election. Hillary may win 2016, but for now, all we know is that only Nixon has. I am not omnipotent, so this point still stands.
3. Nixon seemed clean by the public until Watergate. Clinton has been sullied by repeated scandals in a never-ending cycle.
4. Nixon somehow survived in between the Rockefeller and the Reagan/Goldwater camps of the GOP. Progressives are a wild card thorn in the side of Hillary at the moment.
5. Nixon was not able to keep clean around the press, but Hillary is far, far worse with handling the press. At least Nixon did not tie up reporters with rope. Remember how pivotal the press is to your public image.

I'd rate Nixon as the second (behind Reagan) most charismatic post-WWII GOP president.

See this is the whole point. Charisma isn't about being a good person or a good administrator, it's about convincing others that you are. Nixon did so effectively. He cynically told half truths and some outright lies in order to successfully get elected. Mainstream American didn't know that he was an anti-Semite and even if they knew he was a racist a good portion of the electorate wouldn't have even cared. Nixon by a country mile.

Both of them are anti-charismatic. I suppose Hillary is less so, but that is both their crippling weakness.

Why are people calling Nixon charismatic? I thought he was known for his introversion and poor people skills?

I suppose he had a sort of dark unconventional charisma, in a certain fashion.

Nixon won. Hillary has yet to. That should answer any questions so far.
