The only thing that should be banned in video games is metal music on the soundtracks.
Epic sad face at your comment good sir.
Let me guess, you listen to whoever Rolling Stone tells you to?
LOL. Given that he likes punk, his hatred of metal is pretty bizarre.
Why? They don't sound a thing alike.
He probably hates "metalheads" more than he hates the actual music.
(not that there is anything wrong with hating metalheads, they can certainly be anoying...like all "Fill in the Blankheads".)
Metalheads are very annoying, but the music sucks too. It's very very boring and I just can't stand it. Black metal is the worst, since it tries to be as retarded as humanly possible in addition to the crappy music.
While I'm sure that there are some differences in their actual sounds, the principle difference between the two is that metal emphasizes complex song structures & high-quality musicianship.
Furthermore, there are many metal bands that are heavily influenced by punk, & vice versa. In 1996, Slayer released an album called
Undisputed Attitude that was all punk covers. In fact, a critical part of the definition of thrash metal is that it is strongly punk-influenced.
Also, what metal did you hear that you thought was boring? Slayer's
Reign In Blood is a half-hour of songs with tempos in the range of 200 bpms. I can understand why someone would dislike it, but anyone who finds that
boring has no right to call themselves a devotee of anything less than speedcore techno.
