Boner. His fake crying at his speech was slightly worse than Reid's triumphalism in the face of an obvious defeat.

He couldn't handle Minority leader well......seriously the guy is a sh**t......and his lap dog Cantor is as bad as Boehner is.....there may be a good crop coming in.....but the leadership isn't there.

Interesting point of view. Why do you think that Brittain33?  Boehner appears to have been a fairly supple operator to me, although certainly no policy wonk.

Two things. First is my judgment when I've seen him speak, both the last few weeks and during the health care debate. I can not see any past Republican leader crying with joy on winning--that's the opposite of the tough approach that serves them so well.  He should be triumphalist and swaggering, but instead he's humbled. That works well in some positions, but not this one.

The second is the challenge that faces the new speaker that is unlike anything he's faced before, which is the demands of a large and divided caucus with conflicting goals. He's on the wrong side of that divide. I think the Republicans badly need a Tom Delay type, a smart enforcer with no morals who will get the job done and smile for the cameras, and I don't see that among Boehner or any of his lieutenants. I think the Republicans needed a real Joshua generation raised in the wilderness, which is what some of the tea partiers represent, and he's not it. They won't trust him and shouldn't, and he's going to have to continually watch his back.

What do you think?

I think the GOP when it come to the Speaker, is better off with one who appears to walk humbly before his God. Let the GOP candidate for POTUS lead the charge into the GOP utopia. The Speaker's job is to lead a herd of cats behind the scenes. When they get too much face time, it is like Icarus flying too close to the sun.

What do you think Brittain33 about what I think?  Smiley

Indeed. The Newt Gingrich experience is proof that the speaker should be humble and keep with his job description (as you described it); setting up the next Republican POTUS and throwing his dogs a bone whenever possible. Getting something done is secondary in this case, but sure as hell doesn't hurt if Boehner can put the right spin on it.
