Warm weather is less stressful than cold weather
isn't that the more common opinion?i mean i prefer colder weather personally.like below 60 degrees..but seems like most people don't

Atlas has a weird love of cool climates for some reason

This. Except for Goldwater, like everyone else on here hates hot weather.

Sunburns, the inability to strip down past the skin, profuse sweat, no snow to throw snowballs at in the face of adversity or ski on or build things with, no fog.

At least the cold has those, especially regarding the ability to layer up in the worst of the worst.

Wait, you consider fog to be a positive? Why?

YAS.

Anywho, my unpopular opinion for the day isn't so hot. I think a Trump/Biden or a Trump/Bernie 2020 contest is the most desirable outcome for a country that is sorely lacking in true leaders. It would mark the first time in my life that both parties nominate objectively decent candidates for the office.

But the Democrats are going to Democrat and nominate Kamala Harris or Elizabeth Warren because feelies.

I love weather in the 90-100+ range, including running in those temperatures.

Fred Phelps did a lot of civil rights activism back in the 1960's. Because of that and his church's behaviour, there is a conspiracy theory that he is a liberal in deep cover trying to make the orthodox Christian position look bad.

I wouldn't go so far (35+ is way too much and could actually be dangerous), but yeah, kinda same- I love summer. I think I live in a good place for my climate preferences Tongue

I think that severely underestimates the idiosyncratic combinations of belief that are possible within American religious groups.

Not to mention it normalizes the behavior of far-right Christian Coalition type groups. Especially when they come out against Phelps protesting soldiers funerals.

This is silly because you make compromises every single day.

Not to mention, aren’t like 99% of compromises because you “have to” in some way?

The suburban Democratic trend is temporary. A more diverse U.S. will force the Republican Party to move back to the center socially, and along with that, the suburbs will shift Republican. Especially with the growth of democratic socialism within the Democratic Party.

It's ironic because AltorBoltox would have been bitching up a storm during the Tea Party led government shutdowns. Of course, the Democratic definition of compromise is "bend over and spread your cheeks."

America is suburbanizing in general though. Where would Democrats derive their electoral power? You'd have to be more specific. If Republicans controlled rural areas and suburbs in general, that wouldn't leave a whole lot else outside of urban cores.

There are even less people in rural areas so if Republicans are relegated to rural areas they're going to have trouble cracking 30% in the future. I imagine Democrats will be dominant in urban areas and urbanized suburbs while Republicans win rural areas and the majority of suburbs. I don't think much will change at all tbh. Democrats could be an alliance between the (upper middle-class) 'creative class' and poor urban minorities, Republicans could be an alliance between middle-class voters and upper-class voters. Basically what we already saw in past elections with some changes (I imagine most Romney-Clinton suburbans will eventually go back to the Republicans).

Not to mention that suburbs are becoming less white and the GOP has no interest in appealing to non-whites..
