What is the general standard for manuscript fees in the United States? In China, the manuscript fees are quite low.

To publish in an open access scientific journal is anywhere from $1,000 to $2,000 if I’m remembering correctly. Open access usually costs more because the journals can’t turn around and then charge the viewers too. All works of the US government published in scientific journals have to be open access because works US government employees (while on the job) are in the public domain.

Not sure about fiction or other fields.
