Last night in St. Louis, SLU (A10) blew a 17-point lead lead and lost 69-67 to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (OVC). This is a statement win for SIUE's program.

A couple of upsets to talk about already this evening.

First, Northern Illinois beat 17.5 point favorite Indiana State 67-57.

Second, over in the Diamond Head Classic out in Honolulu, SMU beat Iona, which was a 9.5 point favorite, 85-81.

The Mustangs will face either Seattle or Utah State, as will Iona.

Another surprise result, as Missouri continues their excellent start by winning the Braggin' Rights game against #16 Illinois easily, 93-71.

The Tigers's only loss this season so far has been the Border War game against Kansas on December 10, as they are 11-1. After Christmas, they get a stiff test with their SEC opener against Kentucky at home.

Missouri continues their insanely good start to the season, knocking off #19 Kentucky 89-75 in the SEC opener for both teams.

The Tigers are now 12-1 on the season, and with wins over ranked Illinois and Kentucky sides, have a great shot at being a top five seed come March. Next up, Arkansas, currently ranked ninth in the country.

LSU continuing their hot start to the season with a win over #9 Arkansas, 60-57 in the first SEC game for both teams.

The Tigers's only loss is to Kansas State, and with wins over Wake Forest, and now Arkansas, they've got a decent shot at a top four seed in March, despite playing almost no one in non-conference play.

Meanwhile, in the first conference game for both teams, #8 Alabama defeated #21 Mississippi State, 78-67 in Starkville. With their only losses being to Houston and Gonzaga, and with wins over Michigan State, North Carolina, and Memphis in addition to this one over Mississippi State, the Crimson Tide might have a case for #1 seed come March.

We had a huge upset today as Central Michigan shocked Michigan, 63-61 at the Crisler Center.

The Wolverines were 21.5 point favorites entering the game.

UConn, kings of a thousand excuses. After being so confident about their perfect season. Not in this conference, buddy. Not your team at least.

With Purdue's loss, the last remaining unbeaten D1 team is...New Mexico.  Who saw that coming?

And then there were none.  New Mexico lost last night at Fresno State, 71-67.

Conference road games are tough, chapter 637:

#22 Auburn loses at Georgia (which is surprisingly good this season!), 76-64.

#12 Miami loses at Georgia Tech, 76-70.

#16 Duke gets clobbered at NC State, 84-60.

Also, #17 TCU trails at Baylor and #4 UConn is in a tight one at Providence, but both are still in the first half.

Chris Beard officially fired at Texas

I already gave my opinions on who the next head coach at Texas is likely to be, so I don't see the need to repeat myself here.

A couple of upsets and losses by ranked teams since the last time someone posted in this thread.

Starting with Yesterday's action, Illinois, as expected, knocked off #14 Wisconsin, 79-69, UNLV beat #21 New Mexico for the Lobo's second loss of the season, 84-77, and the surprise of the Big Twelve, Kansas State, proved it is for real, taking down #19 Baylor, 97-95 in Overtime, to drop the Bears to 0-3 in Big Twelve play (losses to Iowa State, TCU and now Kansas State), while improving the Wildcats to 3-0 in Big Twelve play (victories over West Virginia, Texas and now Baylor, all three of whom were ranked at the time- Texas was a top ten team too).

In today's action, we've already seen a pair of ranked teams go down, as Maryland took down #24 Ohio State 80-73, and Northwestern upset #15 Indiana, 84-83.

Still early in the second half, but South Carolina, which entered this game as twenty point underdogs, has a 51-43 lead on Kentucky at Rupp Arena.

South Carolina held on to win 71-68, although they tried hard to give it away.  There is much unrest in Big Blue Nation.
