I get the feeling I'm gonna become a very big Beto O'Rourke fan by the end of the year.

Holy crap this guy is a boss
How old are you?

Great comeback!

If Can't Veto the Beto isn't his slogan I'm gonna be so disappointed.

I don't think the pronunciation fits unfortunately.

O'Rourke doesn't even have to win this thing.  If he can keep Cruz's margin of victory to below 10%, he'll help pave the way for Texas Democrats in the future.

Not to mention he'll be bandied about in 2020 as a potential running mate. He could return to congress that year too as an almost-conquering hero.

Of course, he's still a vote for Chuck Schumer and all those far-left committee chairs.

No U.S. Senator currently in office could be meaningfully described as "far-left".
Well, none are far left on your scale, since you are far left and hate most Democrats for being insufficiently liberal for your tastes. I know this since you identify as a Democrat only because of Duverger's Law. Wink

To me, Warren and Sanders are far left, easily. Several others are "borderline," too. (Feingold and Wellstone were far left, to give some recent historic examples.)

Now if O'Rourke gets the nomination and manages to pull an upset against Cruz, expect him to perhaps run in 2020?

He will definitely be in the conversation, but I doubt he runs just two years into a senate term. Texans might consider that a betrayal.

I just wish Beto would fix his terrible campaign logo. I want a bumper sticker that I'd actually be willing to put on my car.

Yeah, all-black logos aren't appealing.

I could see him as a strong candidate in 2024 though if there is an open Democratic primary then.

No offense to Beto, but hopefully there isn't.

I don't see him getting closer than 6 or 7 points of Cruz even in the best case, and that's factoring in Cruz's...um...lack of charm?

Something like 52-46 is about the most generous thing I can imagine right now, especially with the ticket led by Abbott cruising to a 25 point plus reelection.

Abbott and Cruz, if they win will likely be in a single digit margin. I just hope Beto not only wins, but runs for President in the future if he does. He seems to be the most likely guy to be the next Texan President.

As for Beto's campaign logo I think the Brooklyn Nets might have a word with him, it's too similar to their logo.

Joaquin Castro is officially NOT running. O'Rourke is effectively now the nominee.
