Anyone else remember back around May 4 when some government model was leaked to the media that predicted a ridiculously high number of new cases by mid-May because of all the states like Montana that were ending their lockdowns?

A lot of crow is being feasted on right now.

More science, less panic.

Uh, no. It was mid-May.

And we're almost at June now anyway.

Even though we are months removed, and the weather is now warm, in my head it still feels like it’s March. Anyone else?

Kinda feel that, but for me it's more like the days are moving so fast that I always think the actual date is days or weeks ago.

I keep thinking we're well into June, because this nonsense has gone on for so long.

The video about how we can end the pandemic by July 4 was another elitist bait-and-switch. I watched it only to be told that even if we follow his suggestions, the pandemic still won't be over by July 4.

What we really need to do is test everybody, and I mean everybody, ASAP.

Here's a very sensible article outlining the leftist case against lockdowns...

I mean, what the actual f**k

Well, is this permitted under North Carolina regulations?

After almost the whole country was placed under house arrest for 2 months, we can't very well claim that most of the regulations are too lax.

But, admittedly, it would be different if North Carolina said you can't have big sports events like this.

And no, opposition to the lockdown orders is not merely confined to "Republicans" or to the "right". Even many left-leaning types and "Democrats" have become increasingly skeptical in recent weeks, and have disagreed with many of the actions which have been implemented.

I think it's no longer left versus right, but authoritarians (particularly the media) versus the rank-and-file.

No it's called people who want to save lives vs people who care more about going to a football game then protecting people around them!

When did I say anything about football games? I could care less about the football games.

We have to have ideas that are realistic and workable.

Do we know what time of year the pneumonia deaths were? If those deaths were before March, would it mean coronavirus was already widespread in Florida very early in the year?

Governor Andrew Cuomo takes action to require masks in stores:

I really really hope this is already the case for public transport as well.

If yes, normal, sane decision.

If people can't be bothered to wear a thin piece of fabric for a short part of their day in certain spaces,
I guess they can just use their own cars and order stuff online.

I continue to remain wary of mask mandates emanating from government, especially if they come attached with penalties of some kind. And as we move into summer, I am beginning to wonder whether or not they will truly be a permanent fixture of society until there is a vaccine.

I think these orders have gone on long enough. It's been March since the country actually started getting a large number of cases. March. And we're still getting a lot of cases when it's almost June?

Never would have thought we'd have this many cases for this long.

Just imagine where we would be if we had not done anything.

I think science is doing something. There could be some sort of positive development at any time, and it's hard to predict what form it will take.

But I really can't take any more of the social distancing.

Doesn't look like much of a change from a week ago. Hopefully the last few days were anomalous.

Yesterday did have by far the highest number of tests ever.

Yesterday, the U.S. had the lowest positivity rate since March 4. It was the lowest since at least March 5 (probably earlier) using the 7-day rolling average.

When I went to a convenience store this past Saturday, I noticed that no customers or workers had masks. They didn't even have one hanging around their necks. This despite the health order.

People on the "LockdownSkepticism" board on Reddit say the same thing happens everywhere else.

Mask orders just aren't enforceable for very long.

I think May was "peak mask", just like how April was "peak lockdown."

Some states (Arizona, Texas, Michigan, Florida, California) are reporting some pretty scary numbers today.

Most of those (especially Michigan) just started counting probable cases with the certain cases.

Also, today was by far the biggest testing day yet (550,000 tests).

Good to know about Michigan.  Arizona and the others may be concerning though.  I read that the positive test rate has gone up sharply in AZ.

Utah might be concerning, but it turns out they just got hundreds of cases from a meatpacking plant there.

Today was knocked back down to 25,000, since they reassigned all those Michigan cases to the proper dates. So this is yet another day when the positive rate was under 5%.

The deaths seem to be slowing....but was the jump in cases the result from the protests?

Today was by far the biggest testing day ever, and Michigan decided to count a backlog of probable cases.

I think I'm finally at the point where I can say we should reopen everything - with no major restrictions.

Ugh, so many people without masks including inside stores.

Yeah, that's where we're at. At this point, I'm fine with it.

I hope we can all agree that doing 500,000 tests and finding 25,000 cases is better than the days when we were doing only 80,000 tests and finding 35,000 cases.

The decline in cases since 2 months ago is pretty unambiguous.

At my job today, I had a maskless customer who told us that employees should not be wearing masks anymore, as a return to normalcy.

I think a lot of people out there consider masking to be a reminder of how bad things were, and they want to put it behind them.

Where did this 33,000 business come from? The site right now has 21,000.

In other words, they're snowflakes.  It's reprehensible to be against other people choosing not to risk their health just because they don't want to be reminded of the virus.  It's not over!

Well, I can't stop someone from masking up. But a lot of people see it and it really hurts morale.
