Seeing that there is no thread for this (at least not recently), I decided to make this in order to share things that the majority of the forum doesn't agree with or does not share with you.

Here's mine...

I actually like both Hillary and Bernie...*runs*

Each has a >80% favorability rating amongst Democrats. That's not a rare or unpopular opinion at all.

-Christianity is superior to all other religions and people from non-Christian cultures converting is a positive development.
-Liberal values and politics are the only acceptable outlook on life and plan for government. Non-liberal views aren't even worth listening to.
-"The destruction and annihilation of culture" that's tearing through the US now is a very positive development.
-Mormonism is a false non-Christian religion.
-People who care about "cultural appropriation" are stupid.
-People whose gender is blatantly obvious from appearance who state their pronouns are stupid.
-Refusing to have sex with a trans person is a completely understandable and not at all bigoted position, anymore than refusing to have sex with people of the same gender is bigoted against homosexuals.
-American Vietnam veterans and German WWII veterans should not have their service glorified.
-A well kept female foot is one of the most beautiful sites that there can be.

I don't think an opinion shared by the largest religion on Earth can be, in any way, construed as "unpopular."

This is what I would regard as an unpopular opinion within my party (but, naturally, not one I see as necessarily 'bad'):

I don't believe in anthropogenic climate change.  While I do acknowledge that we have had an impact on the climate at least since the Neolithic era, and especially with the advent of the industrial revolution, it pales by comparison to other natural cyclical factors including the sun that have powered climate change since our planet was born.  I just cannot see how a trace gas that composes only 0.04% of the atmosphere could wreak so much havoc.

here's another one:

I actually like the MPAA's prudish stance on profanity and the word f[inks]...from an artistic standpoint. True, it's a very stupid rule that a movie can get an R rating just for having 4 or 5 f bombs, and that 16 year olds can't watch such a movie without mental scarring or whatever...but it means that if a movie seeks a PG-13 rating, they'll limit and the word can be very impactful when used instead of cheapened if used constantly a la Tarantino-style. Not that there isn't value to the level of that word in his movies' conversation, but used sparingly it can have a different type of power.

Remember Wolverine's cameo in X-Men First Class? That's the sort of thing I'm talking about.

Dworkin is a really extreme example of second-wave feminism. The most iconic example would be Gloria Steinem.

Most of the complaints about third wave feminism posted earlier though seem more like they're actually complaints about either:
1-TERFs, who are not third wave feminists at but leftovers of the rather fringe second wave variety mentioned above or
2-Random people on Tumblr who literally have as much influence as the average Atlas poster.

The Avengers is garbage fanbait that has little artistic merit.

Also the writers for the Marvel Cinematic Universe are completely out of ideas and kind of just throwing stuff at the wall at this point.

The Netflix shows that are technically part of the MCU are good, but they basically ignore everything else in the universe for the better.

Most American non-poor progressives have seriously underestimated the drawbacks of a Canadian style healthcare system and would complain quite a bit about the taxes they pay and quality of care received if they actually had to participate in our system.

I say this as a single payer supporter.

The sell for Americans should be "bigger paycheck, much less aggravation." The problem won't be the cost. The problem will be when they find out they still have to navigate claims and haggle over co-pays, reasonable charges from providers, and what is and isn't covered, just like in private healthcare.

"I thought we got free care! Why do I have to pay to see the doc about my sniffle? Why are they charging me $1000 for my emergency room visit for a bruised knee?"

I'm also a supporter of single payer, but Americans already don't understand healthcare, and that's not going help.

I was thinking stuff like spped of delivery. The average wait time for a knee replacement is two years in my province. Anyone with money goes to America to get it done. I waited 6 months to see a specialist. Very long waits in the ER. Etc etc.

The United States as a collective whole would have much better bargaining power, just as a result of being ten times the size. Some of the forces that result in supply issues wouldn't be as much of a problem in the United states. And ER waits are mitigated by that $1000 charge I speak of. You come to the ER and it's not an emergency, expect to pay out the nose.

The biggest problem I see with single payer in the United States is, exactly what do you do with the private insurance industry that suddenly becomes obsolete? Involve them as a part of a scheme to patch together universal coverage? We tried that: it was called "Obamacare."

Maybe we do Obamacare on steroids, where there is a basic public option paid through taxes, but private insurance is a way to get a higher standard of care? Republicans should like that, because it "rewards" "merit" and gives doctors "freedom."

A system like Germany and the Netherlands would resolve that.

Side note: I have been feeling especially passionate about this subject lately because I am pissed that the Wisconsin Democratic Party is not making moves to expel Cathy Myers from the party.

Why is "running against a candidate I support" a party-banishable offense?
