If we have proof that Russia is not complying with the treaty and they remain our biggest nuclear rival, then I honestly can't see a reason to stay in the treaty.  But the U.S. technically has given Russia 6 months to comply in order to keep the treaty alive.

In contrast to Trump's usual treaty withdrawals this move isn't totally unfounded, since there's sufficient evidence pointing to Russia violating the agreement.

Sounds like something that Russia really wanted to get-out-of, and thus Putin ordered trump to proceed as indicated.

These things are so easy to just talk about without any real concept of the actual implications of this withdrawal or what it means.

So I'll say this, cuz I feel like it is in the same spirit of these kinds of geopolitical maneuvers...

If Russia splodes a nuke on my house I'm gonna be SO MAD.

The US is now "verbally threatening" to place short-range nuclear missiles in some central/eastern NATO nations to counteract this new Russian threat to Europe.
My question is which nations will allow this? Most European nations (their citizenry) no longer want US nuclear weaponry within their borders.
(Remember the days of massive protesting.)

perhaps the countries that we turned our back on for 50 years (the Baltics, Poland) would?  They remember the Russians funking their sh**t up, the Krauts, Frenchies, Tommys and Trumps have forgotten that the Russians are our enemies.

I've read on another board that the real reason for the withdraw (for both Russia and the US) was to counter the PRC (though Russia always had a loophole with regards to China).  *I'm* not saying that is what's going on, just putting it out there.

The fact that Ronald "Evil Empire" Reagan signed it suggests that it couldn't be too bad for America, and the fact that the USSR fell shortly after it was signed suggests that it worked for America.

Trump is the lap-dog for the Kremlin. What Putin wants will be demanded of Trump to do the same action.

Trump's boss will let him do a few token anti Russian moves just to avoid it becoming too obvious. Things like this and the Russian diplomats being expelled over the spy assassination in the UK are good examples. If Putin cuts his losses and releases the piss tape, he loses a Russian asset as President. Putin has decided it's better to get 90% of what you want, instead of 0%.

I wonder why Bush 43 didn't withdraw from the INF treaty. I'd think that Cheney and Rumsfeld would be eager to escape from the treaty.

why do you think Rummy and Dick would want to get rid of the treaty?  Because they are cartoonishly evil?  Russia didn't start actually breaking it until Obama.
