If Trump doesn't wade in to endorse Morrisey, this could be pivotal.

I suppose that the Capito dynasty will reign on, although I'm eagerly awaiting a Trump endorsement to see if that will make a difference.

We could end up seeing the Moore/Capito family hold a Senate seat, a House seat, and the Governor's mansion next year.

Is Moore Capito a MAGA candidate or more of a traditional conservative? His mother obviously is one of the lesser offensive senators who's still willing to legislate in a serious manner.

Anyways it should be noted the WV governorship is one of the least powerful. Vetoes can be overriden by simple majority.

Fairly moderate conservative.. he has some union backing for his run (United Mine Workers of America).

His cousin Riley Moore, who's running in the 2nd district, is a full on Vance type.

If Justice is for him, then what moral concept is against him?

Interestingly, Bob Huggins (Former WVU Basketball coach who was fired for calling Xavier a bunch of Catholics F (slur)) endorsed Chris Miller he previously endorsed Manchin in 2018.

The Humanist Report did a funny segment about just how bizarre this primary has gotten. If victory in the GOP primary wasn't tantamount to election in West Virginia, I'd find it entertaining.

We're getting that idiot Miller's ads here. Spending all that money for literally zero votes.

I know Trump endorsed Jim Justice for Senate, but did he endorse for any of the other down ballot races?

Seemingly just a repeated endorsement of Justice.

I guess he doesn't like losers. Many 2018 losers didn't receive another endorsement from him (like Barletta or Rosendale) as well. Of course he blames only them for the defeat, but solely wants to take credit for winning candidates.

Well that's different since Lake has continued to maintain that she still 'won', has demanded faith in that delusion amongst her cohorts and Trump likely recognized himself in that whole effort.

The razor-thin margin gave her some cover for this, too.

Looks like New Jersey's own Fat Pat will be West Virginia's next governor.

Seemingly we're eternally doomed for Morrisey to win competitive primaries with 30-35% of the vote.

What the hell happened? All I can guess is Morrisey pissed off Trump somehow behind closed doors but not enough to get him to endorse somebody else in this race. The fact that Justice's endorsement did nothing while he won his own primary handily is quite a spectacle.

Did the other candidate siphon off would-be Capito voters?

It can't be ignored that Morrissey has been on a statewide ballot in pretty much every election since 2012 and won every time except for 2018, while Capito was only a House delegate. People know him and are used to voting for him so it is not surprising he won at all.

It's not as absurd as the past, but the panhandle punches above it's weight in GOP primaries cause of how Republican voters elsewhere in the state may still have Dem registrations. The republicans of those eastern counties are different from the rest of the state - the counties are in the DC media market and look east economically and culturally. Their orientation towards the rest of the mid-Atlantic/beltway is why a few Maryland pols have been able to find an audience across the border.

Almost all of Morrisey's winning margin came from the panhandle. Almost every other part of the state was a mixed bag with multiple candidates receiving viable shares of the vote. There was no clear favorite in the rest of the state.
