Assuming that we're talking about non-Hispanic whites, I can't really see either happening anywhere. Maybe the former in Alaska, but even that's doubtful.

Maybe the former will happen in certain parts of Arkansas, and the latter might be possible in parts of Upstate New York or maybe New Jersey.

I think there might be a huge divide between those with a college degree, but no more, and those with a postgrad degree (particularly one that doesn't directly lead to a high-paying career).  I think conservatives view higher education as an investment to make more money down the line, while liberals are more concerned about intellectualism, and not really money.  So, maybe Trump does well in some places with college, but no postgrad, voters, even if he struggles with the super-educated.
