It shows how crass Rick Perry is. Even though it has no political significance, it shows a high likelihood that he will have a "macaca moment".

President Obama will praise Kansas City barbecue in Kansas City.

Q1 "Mitt Romney once said you can always tell when someone from North Carolina is in the room because their inherent ugliness immediately causes a sense of dread and nausea. Do you agree?"

Yes 2%
No 98%

Q2 "Would you support President Barack Obama or Mitt Romney in a Presidential election held today?"
Obama 64%
Romney 28%
Not sure 8%

Rick Perry, as a pure-bred Texan, is of course correct. Compared to the Republic's superior BBQ, every other state's (especially that nonsense they eat in the Carolinas) is grossly inferior.

Props to VanderBlubb:

It's pretty obvious what PPP is going to show: Romney trails Obama by 1, Perry trails by 5.  Given that Romney and Obama have always been within the margin of error in their past ten polls, it's a little strange that he hasn't led him once, but whatever.

Ridiculous that polls like this are coming out and people still think Obama has no chance.

Eh, North Carolina is one state where I don't put my full faith in PPP. If accurate, it's great for Obama though. If he's even very competitive in NC on election night, he's probably won handily.

This is much more in line with most of the other polls in North Carolina; there was the other poll which showed Obama behind Romney and Perry by a decent margin.

Although I also think these North Carolina polls are being overly generous to Obama.  The national mood is much more antagonistic than last time and the President barely pulled off a victory, and that was even with Palin dragging down John McCain

Ah yes, but North Carolina is trending Democratic, so these two effects seem to cancel out.  Generally, PPP has been very accurate.

PPP is based in North Carolina and got its start there. Why don't you trust them to poll it?

I think Elaine Marshall 2010 is the main reason. They showed her ahead or competitive for longer than all other polls iirc.

PPP's final polls are usually quite accurate in NC, but they tend to show the Democrat competitive for much longer than any other outfit.
