That’s not male.

Of all of the tragic comedy staples of modern conservatism (and believe me, there are countless), few are more painfully unfunny than jokes about men who don't fit a specific brand of masculinity not being men.

Regarding Tim Ryan, the only thing he has going for him is that Iowa is pretty ideal territory for him in theory, but I highly doubt that will be remotely enough to salvage his candidacy. There are too many bigger names who seem poised to throw their hat into the ring (Biden, Warren, Sanders, Harris, Gillibrand, etc.), and whatever appeal he has to Midwestern "populist" white Democrats will be completely overridden by someone like Sanders/Warren/Klobuchar. Hopefully the weird affinity many white progressives have for him (apparently just because he opposed Pelosi) will be damaged if the fact that he isn't at all particularly progressive is brought into the national spotlight, should he run.
