As far as weird school lunches:

In elementary school we regularly had baked duck breast.  Some area schools also served venison around deer hunting season (which many schools take off).

Minnesota...pft...

My elementary school was teh awesome.  They'd get a bunch of McDonalds hamburgers then take out the beef patty, put it on a plate, and call it "steak."  That served with some tasty expired ("IT'S STILL GOOD FOR YOU!!!" -- angry lunch lady, circa 1996) 1% milk = good eats.

At least they weren't wasting your parents tax dollars.

The tax dollars were pocketed by corrupt leaders before they could be wasted.

Well, maybe not so much in the 90s.  Gary Johnson was pretty good at not being corrupt scum.
