As a proud American I always order my sandwiches with blue sauce. It's part of what makes us who we are and American cuisine wouldn't be the same without it, nor would our culture.

Every good American has put blue sauce on his subs since Lewis and Clark first discovered the blue sauce mine in 1806 in (what is today) western S.Dakota.  Perhaps it was wrong that we forced the Mackenchitup tribe to mine it for us, but if they didn't want to mine it for us, they shouldn't have showed it to us.

No. It was quite distressing when I went to France for a few weeks. First thing I ate when I came back to the US was a footling from Subway drenched in blue sauce.

Blue sauce is an electrolyte-rich sauce created, manufactured and marketed by The Coca-Cola Company. Its primary competitor is PepsiCo's orange sauce brands.

Personally, I prefer the pale green sauce.

I'm a paleochlorist who fondly remembers when Gatorade was owned by Stokely-Van Camp.

"Blue sauce" is the east coast name for it.  Out west and in the south it’s called "blue dressing", while in the Midwest it’s called "fresh blooble goo".  There’s a map floating around somewhere that shows the different regional breakdowns.

There's actually a lot more than that.

And honestly, you could label most of metro areas as "blue sauce". Local dialects are dying out thanks to our modern world. Very sad to see.

Yes, although I only eat my subs with blue sauce when I can get them alongside an Iowan classic:

It's the pork roll/taylor ham divide that really cracked me up.

Since I hate that stuff I am probably the only New Jersey resident who is completely neutral on that. Otherwise it's such a big divide that it could probably spark a New Jersey Civil War.

Are you broken? Do you at least have an opinion on the existence of Central Jersey?

Honestly, I do think central Jersey is a thing, only because of Mercer County not really fitting in too well with either the north or south definition.

I still laugh hysterically at this map from time to time. One of the all-time great posts.
