https://chicago.suntimes.com/elections/2023/2/8/23589775/poll-lightfoot-garcia-vallas-sun-times-wbez-telemundo-chicago-nbc5-election-wilson-johnson-february

Quote
Those are among the key findings of a Chicago Sun-Times/WBEZ/Telemundo Chicago/NBC5 Poll conducted last week.

All falling within the poll’s margin of error, Lightfoot, Garcia and Vallas were essentially locked in a statistical dead heat when respondents were asked whom they would vote for if the Feb. 28 election were held today.

Garcia led with 20%, followed by Vallas with 18% and Lightfoot with 17%. Businessman Willie Wilson trailed closely with 12% and Cook County Commissioner Brandon Johnson with 11%. Just 2% said they’d vote for activist Ja’Mal Green, and 1% chose either Ald. Sophia King (4th) or state Rep. Kam Buckner. Ald. Roderick Sawyer (6th) drew no support. Another 18% said they were still undecided.

...

The poll was conducted Jan. 31 through Feb. 3 by Mason-Dixon Polling & Strategy, Inc. A total of 625 registered voters were interviewed by telephone, all stating they were likely to vote in the Feb. 28 election.

Would be surprised if Chuy was actually leading at this point, but perhaps its possible. This certainly makes more sense than the poll that had him at 7%.

How likely is Lightfoot to lose her job? Haven't been paying a lot of attention here, but seems she's headed for defeat due to a controversial performance?

It's a Runoff in April if Lightfoot or Vallas doesn't get 50 but Vallas is clearly the Fav anyways, he tried to run as Lt Gov, with Quinn after Sheila Simon debacle in 2011/15, in 2014 and lost to Rauner he isn't popular downstate but in Chicago

I’d put it at 50/50 at this point

This. I tend to think the greatest chance of defeat for her is round one. If she makes the runoff, anything is possible.

I'd give her about a 15% chance of being reelected. Nobody likes her. She might luck out and get a runoff opponent who's even less popular, but even then, she's in for a tough fight.

Vallas is gonna be the next Mayor they wantta keep the Bears in Chicago and Lightfoot has a oiie relationship with the McCaskey s

Lightfoot only won because she was the alternative to Preciwrinkle but after stimulus checks ran out alot of these days there are extreme Labor Shortages Gavin Newsom whom has had no problem with the Latino and white population is seen as very polarizing force by Blks, that's why he is at 7 percent in the Primary against Harris, and Vallas is seen as a fresh face to Lightfoot like Porter is to Feinstein not Schiff

Vallas recieved money from one of the former cops involved in the 2014 police killing of Laquan McDonald, which led to Rahm Emanuel having a lackluster second term...

https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/paul-vallas-received-campaign-contribution-from-ex-officer-in-laquan-mcdonald-scandal/3062993/

Whoever wins, Chicago will be mired in crime and problems. The Chicago Bears left the city today, moving to Arlington Heights, a suburb.

Shows that owners don't care for the community, the Packers don't do that, they are a nonprofit, public owned corporation.

If Lightfoot wins reelection, a lot of Chicago cops will walk off the force.

LoL Arlington heights isn't that far most people live in Suburbs where I am at because they have cars it's no big deal that Bears move to Arlington and Packers are playing in Green Bay not in Milwaukee where Brewers are at

The Daleys and Biden were connected with Kennedy's and the Daleys went to Gabrini Green to get blk and Latino votes

Daleys were crocks too

What the national media has done to our city’s reputation is a tragedy.

Chicago, like NYC and Atlanta, other big cities have a lot of problems.

Vallas is seen as a cop bootlicker, Giuliani of the 2020s and his mayoralty will see most likely tension....Lightfoot is meh...

Brandon Johnson, JaMal Green should be given a chance.

Lmao.  The national media?.  Try Kim Foxx, Tim Evans, with an assist from Preckwinkle and Lightfoot.  The chickens have come home to roost.  Keep voting in the same hacks who have created the revolving door at 26th & California in the name of "equity" and see how much worse it gets.  The sky rocketing amount of shootings, assaults, robberies, and car jackings since 2020 aren't a media creation.

I assume you’re voting for Paul Vallas, who isn’t one of the Same Hacks? Wait, he’s been in Chicago politics for 30 years.

https://elections.suntimes.com/quiz/

Kam Buckner 78%
Paul Vallas 74%
Roderick T. Sawyer 70%
Sophia King 65%
Ja'Mal Green 65%
Willie L. Wilson 61%
Brandon Johnson 52%
Chuy Garcia 43%
Lori Lightfoot 30%

This checks out. Although maybe Lori and Chuy are especially low because they didn't answer every question. But this is definitely directionally correct for me.

wow. This woman is extremely off putting and divisive. Not a good trait in a leader. Telling people not to vote if they don't support her? Isn't  the antithesis of democracy?

She’s also grew up in a very white rural Ohio town and spent much of her early professional life in DC. She only moved to Chicago as a federal attorney and then as at a white collar elites law firm. It’s not like these are her people in the way someone like Rush or even Obama could claim. She has no reason to feel entitled to their vote yet she does.

These kind of racial appeals are totally normal in the Chicago black community, so not sure why Lori is getting criticized for it!  This is Bobby Rush’s wheelhouse.

I detailed why in the comment above you. I get Rush doing it, these are his people, but this ain’t necessarily Lightfoot’s people

I saw.  I just figured there was a less racist explanation.
