Cuellar is a Democrat and denying that makes you look quite silly.

It's called hyperbole, but the point is that when it comes to the Senate, the debacle with BBB should make it even more clear that Democrats have to have some level of standard, and not literally accept anyone with a (D) next to their name who will happily sabotage any attempt toward progress if they believe it helps their re-election odds.
If that was the point you had, it was hard to discern due to your wording making you sound like someone prone to the silliest types of purity testing for mere party labels.
What is true is that Cuellar would face challenges with the TX Dem statewide electorate, which is quite different from the Tejanos that form the bulk of TX-28.

I suppose a party switch is possible. But I get the sense neither Ds nor Rs would welcome that.
