For the 2008 presidential election

Republicans have cloned -
Dwight Eisenhower and nominate him for President
Thomas Dewey and nominate him for Vice President

Democrats have cloned -
Harry Truman and nominate him for President
Adlai Stevenson and nominate him for Vice President

How does this election turn out?

No.  Sorry, that is part of Dewey's persona.

My own personal take on this situation is this:

Due to the possible instabilityof clones, as well as the potential manipulation of clones by undesirable elements, a coalition of concerned Americans and political leaders comes together, nominates a national unity ticket, who in turn sweeps to power on a wave of "Real Person for President" sentiment.

We must remember, this was already 2008, and the coalition had to have someone who could "hit the ground running" and someone fully capable of assuming the awesome responsibilities of the Presidency.  Therefore, the coalition prevailed upon Vice President Dick Cheney, whose health has been declared as top notch by Walter Reed Doctors, to accept the Presidential nomination.  Cheney agrees to put off retirement for the sake of the country.  Although not loved by all sectors of the population, Cheney is respected for his political experience and executive ability, and his capabilities of doing the job.  Cheney in turn chooses respected Democratic Senator Joe Lieberman as his Vice Presidential running mate.

The Cheney/Lieberman ticket goes on to win a landslide in the election, winning every state and DC, with the exception of California for some odd reason.

Fear not.

For those who simply cannot take a Cheney presidency, and I can't imagine why anyone would not want a Cheney presidency Smiley, there is an alternate ending to this scenario.

The coalition turns to a man who seems to be respected by most of the country, Senator John McCain, Republican of Arizona, and he accepts the Presidential nomination.  McCain is seen as someone who can handle the tremendous burdens of the Presidency.  McCain chooses experienced Senator Joe Biden, Democrat of Delaware, as his Vice Presidential running mate.

The McCain/Biden ticket goes on to win a landslide victory in the election.  They win every state and DC, with the exception of California for some odd reason.
