Yoda is an interesting comparison. Both are well-meaning but they've been around forever and are very set in their ways, to the point of being unable to adjust to a new threat they thought was long banished. They constantly have to react to events rather than shaping them, and often their reactions come too late to make a difference.

Let's just hope there's no Palpatine on the other side to exploit these weaknesses.
