What would the political effects in the United States be if any of these events or trends occur over the next four years.

-Current economic recession becomes a depression

-Oil and fuel prices shoot up higher then before

-The big three American auto corporations go bankrupt

- There is a major scandal in the Obama Administration or among the Democrats in general

- Another terrorist attack occurs on US interests at home or aboard

-The sititution in central/South Asia gets worse

 and so much more

So what could happen politically under these conditions?
I will do each seperatley because they will never happen combined.
Economic Depression:

(This map mixes Huckabee, Palin and Romney together as candidates)

Fuel Prices:

(This one is hard because I assumed an economic recovery to go with it)

Big three auto corporations go bankrupt:

(I assumed a small economic recovery and a mix of Republican candidates)

Major Scandal:

(I assumed a big economic recovery and a Lewinsky type scandal for Obama)

Terrorist Attack:

(I assumed a big economic recovery and a Madrid train bombing type terrorist attack)

Really? Basically the only way we loses is if we enter a depression, and it isn't even a landslide?

He still wins comfortably even with a major scandal? The Clinton scandal was hardly major ..

I think the economy will turn around before 2012 and we'll be reelecting him, but if we were to somehow relapse into a depression beforehand, he would lose by a lot worse than your map unless we nominate Palin or someone in her folksy, populist mold.
