The first big event happened in late December 2022 when former president Donald Trump passed away. Today, after a bit of mulling, Eric Trump took the stage to announce he was seeking the Republican nomination for president.
Just two days later on January 12th, Former VP Mike Pence held a rally in Iowa announcing his presidential bid. He called to bring civility back into the Republican Party and to bring it back to “Christian conservative ideas”.
At the end of the month, January 31st 2023, Tagg Romney, son of Utah Senator and 2012 Republican nominee Mitt Romney, announced in a video on social media that he will be seeking the Republican nomination, talking about his moderate views.
And finally for this news rap up, on February 4th, the second democrat jumped into the race- former First Lady of the US, former senator, and former Secretary of State and 2016 democratic nominee Hillary R. Clinton announced in a rally with Bill Clinton and Virginia senator Tim Kaine (who issued an endorsement) that she would once again be running for the democratic nomination for president.
