They stuck with farming, there was no large scale manufacturing base in Iowa.

They stuck with farming, there was no large scale manufacturing base in Iowa.
Their economy is only 3.5% agriculture (and fishing, hunting, and forestry).  22.9% manufacturing. 

We're talking about 100 years or so ago here.
