You'd think the GOP would have learned its lesson, but then again, there were no real consequences for them from last year's shutdown (thanks to the right-wing media).
There were short term consequences. I think that if it weren't for the shutdown, if the media was focused on the Obamacare exchange website fiasco the entire month of October instead of it being in the background the first half of the month and not really coming to the spotlight until the shutdown ended, then Ken Cuccinelli and Mark Obenshain would be the Governor and AG of Virginia. And yes, memory of the shutdown has faded by now, but were it to shut down this fall right before the election, then that would be absolutely disastrous for the GOP.
