How is Sunderland such a safe labour area when it voted heavily for brexit?

Because most people don't run their entire political worldview based on how they voted in the EU election?

Can someone, using the exit polls, say if any coalition would work?

Specifically, CON-led and "Progressive Alliance"

It will be a minority government rather than a coalition. About the only thing uniting Labour is they don't want to form a coalition with the Nats especially, and the Libs don't have enough clout to form a full on colaition without feeling subsumed.

The unionists will simply ask for cash, some token weird stuff irt brtexit in return for support in supply and confidence.

so apparantly Clegg is a probable loser. Pretty hillarious if so, the local party only considered him a likely target about a fortnight ago.

Lib Dems were super unlucky this time around, with a lot of ridiculously narrow losses - Richmond Park, St Ives, NE Fife, Ceredigeon...

"Democratic Unionist sources have told The Guardian that one possible sweetener fro the party from Theresa May and the Tories is the possible elevation of Peter Robinson to the House of Lords."

There were Lib Dem MPs in Berwick and Redcar, and I beloved they controlled Newcastle Council during the Blair year.

well it seemed to work for them in 2015...

I think the anti-Nat marketing was subtly different in 2015 than the anti-Cat marketing of PP, mainly because The Union isn't really treated as that big a deal south of the border as it is in Scotland (and that Spanish unity is for PP's cadres). The common perception amongst small c conservative voters is more of a fear that a minority government propped up by the SNP would be a cooked deal that gives Scotland free stuff at the cost of English taxpayers.

Most mainland Brits view Northern Ireland as completely peripheral so they don't care.
