This poll should have a third option - "fervent pro-Israel apologists". If this place is anything to go by, the harm they do to their own cause is pretty high.

maybe, how is Israel hurt by pro-Israel apologists?  Certainly not as obvious as the two I mentioned, at least not to me.

Nuclear protesters, definitely, because new nuclear would be a thing without them, whereas pro-Palestine groups are basically irrelevant to the current status of Palestine.

The interesting thing about anti-nuclear movement is they essentially created the environmentalist movement and so are left as an increasingly odd artifact in a movement more defined by attacks on climate change.

Palestinian protests have both hurt and helped their cause. I would say the balance is towards helping, although if biden is defeated and it's clearly their fault, I might be of a mind to swing the other way.

They've gone down the 2016 SJW route.

I'm stiff confused.  I don't think very many of the fervent pro-Israel apologists are extremely over weight with green hair and daddy issues.  Is it the victim complex?  The overreaction to minor slights..."microaggressions"?  Are they all drawing the exact same cross armed anthropomorphist animal over and  over?

Regardless of what's happening with I-P, the anti-nuclear movement has undoubtedly been the single greatest gift to the fossil fuel industry in the last 50 years.

Yes, and it’s interesting how many regret it, my parents protested nuclear power in the seventies and today, they mostly see it as them being on the wrong side of the issue.

Given the climate of the era I get why environmentalists were anti-nuclear, unfortunately it has meant that the fossil fuel industry has been given a free kick as there's nothing with the same sort of ability to provide power out of renewables.

But yes, if the anti-nuclear folks were ignored it's possible fossil fuels would be a dated relic now.

The pro-Palestine peaceniks. They want Trump to win. You don't have to take my word for it; take theirs. Trump's no better on this issue (and far worse on so many others), yet when I try to point that out, these people dodge the question!

Quite a few such people are motivated by accelerationism and "heightening the contradictions" - but has that approach ever actually worked? Anywhere??

Environmentalists against nuclear energy, though it's not as bad as people suggest, but generally using more nuclear energy as a transition to green energy would've been better than relying on fossil fuels and gas for longer, because even today we still have issues with that. And nuclear reactors take time to build also, so it's like harder to invest in that today.

But it's not as b/w as some make it seem to be like.

Pro-Palestinians being harmful to their cause is just propaganda from pro-Israeli people or ppl who condone genocide, and personal bias and opinion is involved in that claim, so i disagree with that though. If you believe they've harmed the cause, reception would've never been great to start with. And the world is waking up so it clearly is helping a lot.

Even some of the forum... seem to have shifted their opinion a little bit compared to 6 months ago when i was the boogeyman. Hopefully, one day you'll realize i was right but i don't want to see revisionism like with Iraq claiming that the majority of the forum never supported Iraq in the first place.

Pretty sure ppl would have been more vocal if Trump was the president and did the exact same things as Biden now.

I think she's talking about "SJWs" as they actually existed.

Funnily enough yesterday I visited the town where a nuclear power plant was supposed to be built but was converted into a thermal power plant in 1989 amidst the end of Italy's nuclear program, Montalto di Castro. That is the only harm to environmentalism / the environment I can see anti-nuclear protests may have caused in this country (and is over anyway, since the thermal power plant was decommissioned in 2019). I don't know about pro-Palestine protests but my instinct is that they don't really make a difference.

Tbf there is an argument that nuclear power was genuinely more dangerous back then - one thing the widespread opposition did was force the industry to up its game.
