The thing is, normative male heterosexuality should be critiqued.

There are people here who can do this much better than I can, but the basic takeaway is that it's more than anything else an instrument of control, and a lot of what straight men (and people who aren't straight men, in all fairness) think is a 'natural' or 'normal' aspect of their or others' sexuality is an outgrowth of that dynamic of control. Besides, 'natural' and 'normal' don't actually sum to 'good' anyway; we need an ethic of sexuality that goes beyond construction of naturalness and normality and bears some relation to a comprehensive way of looking at social relationships in general. Me being who I am, I'd prefer if this was informed by some type of not-too-heterodox liberation theology, but that is probably too much to hope for.

What precisely are you talking about?  Outlawing intercourse?

Just fine I suppose.  I was busy for a few days with the horrible miseries of toil.

So, what's your point?

Oh, I'm sure even you are aware that there's a whole cascade of social and ethical order between a sexual free-for-all and banning intercourse. Wanting to go down that cascade from memphis's position doesn't entail wanting to go all the way to the bottom and plunge into the polar sea below.

I've never noticed memphis having 'a position'.  Does he even get laid?  I hardly think different manners of going about wishful thinking have any actual effect on anything.

Maybe position isn't the right word--particularly in a discussion of sexuality, with you of all people, on Atlas Forum. I really should have known better. memphis's mindset, then.

I've never really noticed any mindset of memphis on this subject, but now I'm curious.  Ah well, I guess I'll never know.  I do recall him being amusing at times though.

Crazy people on tumblr who believe they're "transracial" or some other bs != the vast majority of people who use the term cisgender. I don't do it out of malice or because I have a chip on my shoulder, just because its a lot less awkward to say than "non-transgender" or something.

Do people who that word is supposed to apply to even say "cisgender"?

I think its the play on the word 'sissy', n'est-ce pas?

memphis, why do you insist on not even pretending to understand trans issues or doing even the basic respect of...ugh, never mind.

Isn't the problem here the weightiness and seriousness with which you address a very fun, silly, amusing - and yes titillating - topic: men dressing up as ladies and searching for ****.  I think people could accept you better if you were more camp and not so anhedonic.  Tell us some size queen jokes or bum-mishap tales along with your political message, and it will go down easier.

Thank you for the advice, but I'm afraid I don't have any size queen jokes or bum-mishap tales. Even so, I assure you I'm considerably campier in real life than I am here.

Well those are just two suggestions - its hard to achieve camp in text stylistically, so sometimes you need campy content.

If he had a blue avatar he would have been bullied off the forum a long time ago, but the anti-intellectual left on here (Lief, Opebo, et al) tend to have a soft spot for fellow misogynist anti-thinkers.

Hah, you're really not thinking things through if you're not at least a practicing misogynist, Gustaf.  Similarly we can all 'understand' the mugger and understand that 'society made him that way', but we still watch our purses in the bad part of town.

Of course the immediate tendency for most people (particularly over a certain age) leans towards finding the whole trans thing as (at best) a bit weird; it runs very much against the way we're socialised from a very early age. But the same was true of homosexuality not so very long ago as well. Sometimes we have to revise our attitudes; fundamentally we are talking about a comparatively tiny group of people who are no threat to anyone

Actually I'm totally comfortable with them, despite my advanced age, and even 'participate' with them once in a while.  They're great.  But they're not at all rare here.. maybe a few percent of the population (I guess 2-3%, more if you count Tomboys)

But I guess in Memphis world view anyone who kills themselves after bullying is just too weak to deserve our sympathy anyway.

No, it's their own fault, they just didn't had to dress up if they didn't wanted to told told the Truth, with a capital "T".

Here they feel free to behave as ladyboys from very early ages, even in the small villages and rural areas, however they can't really 'act out' much in terms of transvestitism at school (there are gender specific uniforms), but by their mid to late teen years they often do so in their free time.

In every rural area and small town there are fully dressed up ladyboys to be seen running around the town pestering men, or chasing them late at night on motorbikes yelling 'Aiee!' in the campiest way imaginable. No one has anything against them and many men resort to them late at night due to inebriation and impecuniousness.  Everybody's happy.

So, I guess we can we all agree that it's probably a bad idea to send PM's to women (or weird people like me) that you barely know on the Atlas alluding to the desire for sex?

You're a transexxual as well?

Well, no. I like my genitals just fine. In my own head I'm somewhere in the middle and I enjoy pretending. And I found a partner who doesn't think it's too odd, so I'm happy.

Yes! that's hot.  Thai ladyboys only very rarely remove any genitals - they merely get whopping great breast implants.  Its a wonderful compromise.

You like the combination of large breasts and penises? It's an odd combination.

No the penis is irrelevant for me, but the fact that they've kept it and their gonads means they're their original randy selves.  If they remove that stuff they tend to be rather passionless and moody.
