He wasn't; but that's not the point, really. Some of his ideas were quite interesting, though his defense of historical materialism is notable mainly for making it (even) easier to attack...

One has to imo admire the stubborness of a man who was still defending historical materialism by the 1980s. (Of course, this poster being unaware of the nature of such defense and etc)

Oddly enough I was at the library today (well, actually yesterday, it is now 2:23 am) and found a copy of If you're so egalitarian, how come you're rich?. The bits I read were quite interesting and enjoyable (mostly the biographical parts, I wasn't in the mood for theory) but one has to wonder where all that zeal went.
