If the last year showed us anything, it's that the president can hardly do more than endorse legislation, sign or veto bills, and act as a figurehead for his respective party.  Does the president effectively yield less power than the Fed Chairman whose policy decisions are implemented faster and with fewer restraints?

The President obviously and to a lesser extent Congress because ultimately the President selects who the Chairman will be and they usually have the same economic philosophy as the President.

It's the obviously the President and it's not even close.  I guarantee 95% of you have no idea what the Federal Reserve does or how it works.

Also, it's the Chairwoman of the Federal Reserve now.

I don't think that's polite anymore - you'll be attacked for being 'sexist' if you say that.  As you see in other posts here, they call the person of either gender 'a chair'.

The President is the most visible and well-known person on the planet (with the exception of maybe the Pope, maybe) which gives him an enormous "bully pulpit" and a lot of power that is not necessarily constitutionally-bound to the position but just inherent in the position.

The Chairman of the Federal Reserve seems to have more powers but ultimately the President chooses them, which I think would give them the edge.
