Wait, I thought the modern Trump Republicans were all about decreasing the influence of foreign nations? Now you want them controlling our elections? Huh

The thing people must learn about the modern GOP is that they don't perceive this as an assault on America, because only they represent America. Unless it was targeted at Republicans, the representatives of real America, then foreign influence and such isn't a negative.

I guess we want cold war 2.0 with Russia.

So our response to Russia's blatant and intentional interference in our election via cyberwarfare should be what, exactly? Nothing at all? Pretend it didn't happen? Just say, "ah, shucks, those crazy ol' Ruskies!"? No, we must call them out, criticize them, and reprimand them for their meddling - preferably via sanctions. Yet all we hear is how we "want Cold War 2.0 with Russia," how this issue is irrelevant, that it's completely made up, or that it's the fault of the DNC for having lax security. Russia committed the action against us, against a specific party, and a specific candidate, for a specific purpose. Now almost an entire party and people like yourself are objecting to our criticisms of foreign meddling. Incredible.
