Skipping it is probably the smart move for Rand. His low energy, contrarian debate style doesn't tend to "winning" the undercard even against lower tier candidates. Plus, maybe he can stoke some passion for his campaign finally.

Carly should compete though. She could bounce back in two weeks to make the next one if she kills it.

Paul will have a tantrum until he's included in the main debate.

I'm not quite sure if tantrum is the right word, he's not going to be sponsoring protests outside the debate hall or anything. But he has been very clear that if Fox Biz refuses to let him into the main debate, he won't participate in the kiddie table. The question is if Fox Biz will be like CNN and decide that letting him into the main debate is better than excluding him entirely, or if they hold firm. Personally, I hope they hold firm - Paul needs to realize that his candidacy is a mere shadow of his father's, and drop out.

You said when I held the poll that Paul was your second choice behind Kasich, though. Did that change, or do you really hate the fields?

Glad FoxB didn't cave to Paul like CNN did. Although I suspect the early debate will be shorter than originally planned. When they set the criteria there was going to be 6 in each debate. Now it is 7 and 3.

To be clear: We have no confirmation that Fiorina isn't debating. Paul just said someone else might refuse and I just guessed Fiorina.

Rand is higher than Jeb, Fiorina, Kasich, and Christie. This is absolutely bogus.

Let's play a game: which is more BS?

A) How Rand just had his best debate and now is out.

or

B) How he was beat out by not only 2 people with as much political experience as me, but also 3 different unlikable moderate governors!

Either way, this is just another example of how far outside the overton window I am, that all of these assorted warmongers and wackos were chosen above the only palatable (to me) candidate in the race.

Hey, I've said it before (I think) and I might say it again: statism sells.

And it's another effect of how Rand really hasn't done well enough in his campaign. I like him, and agree with most of his positions, but, I'm afraid he's just not a natural politician. Those three guys in the middle are simply better at the sport of politics than Rand is (but I'm sure they aren't as good as doctors).

Somehow Jeb Bush is ahead of him in Iowa which i call bs on. I think students for Rand gets him at least 6%. And unfortunately he didn't a natural politician. One of the hardest things to run on is consistently cutting government.

It would be interesting if Fiorina dropped out of the JV debate, leaving Huckabee and Santorum to debate one-on-one.

There wouldn't be much of a debate then

Not true, but he is higher than Kasich, who will be in the main debate.

In the debate, when Cruz is asked about the natural born citizen issue, he should put the question to all of the other candidates (all of whom, except Trump, have said publicly that it's not an issue). "As a show of hands, who thinks this is an issue."  When none of them raise their hands to say it's an issue, it'll be a powerful image.  Then he should pivot to his talking point about Trump parroting a Democratic talking-point.

Now that Paul is gone from the debate, it's everyone against Trump on this issue.

That's my theory about how Cruz can win this issue publicly.

No. It appears Paul was lying about someone else skipping the kids table.

My point still stands. Rand should be in and Kasich out. It's the media wonks who want to stack the debate in favor of the establishment candidates (Trump, Jeb, Kasich, Christie) to attack Cruz.

Kasich didn't bump Rand out of the debate though. Rand is ahead of Kasich nationally, but not in New Hampshire.

I think Jeb bumped Rand because Rand is kind of close to fifth in Iowa but not quite.

Still Rand should be in and Kasich out. Kasich did because of establishment wing of GOP friendly Fox.

Some at Fox have the same grudge the Establishment Wing of the GOP towards the Paul family. Don't say that it (the grudge) doesn't exist. Goes back to 2008.
