As the Election Day approaches and Biden victory becomes more and more likely, voters who dislike Trump will start to fear a Democratic trifecta. I believe they will break for Collins so that she could be a check on Biden. After all, she has track record of being a moderate and independent thinking and not following the party line.

Lol, she voted for the Trump tax plan and Kavanough.  She only votes against Republican leadership when she is allowed to because they already have the votes.  Republicans have her vote unless she isn’t needed.

If Collins was so independent and such a “moderate hero”, she would be actively working right now to stop ACB’s confirmation.

I am talking about the voters who are concerned about a possible Democratic dominance of the Congress and the Executive. Their natural choice to prevent that from happening is Collins.

A clever ploy to distance himself from Collins and stress how independent she is.

He didn't attack Sasse and he had more reason to attack him.
Trump's moves are very calculated.

We can joke about this, but I really don't see how any vote on ACB helps Collins:

Yea: she angers Dem/Indy voters who bought her pro-choice Republican schtick
No: she angers loyal Trump voters in the state, blowing up her coalition
Present: she angers literally everyone for sitting on the fence
*skips the vote*: she breaks her perfect voting streak and Gideon hammers her on 'not showing up to represent Maine'.

To the best of my knowledge, ACB is probably good for Graham, but awful for Gardner and Collins. It's like a reverse Heitkamp-Kavanaugh vote, there's just no vote that doesn't seem to make re-election harder.

Voting NO will help Collins and hurt Jones.
Voting YES will help Graham, Tillis, Ernst, Danes and Perdue.
I don't think there is anything that can help Gardner and McSally.

We haven't had a poll from Maine for a while.

I'd like to see a new poll after Collins votes NO on ACB confirmation.
That vote should help her a lot.

Gideon blatantly lying like this is distasteful, I'd rather she didn't. But Collins and the Republicans totally deserve it. Hopefully Maine Senate isn't super close so this lie doesn't prove decisive.

Maine voters don't like liars.

Let's be honest, Collins would've voted yes if it would've put them at 50. She voted nay because she wants to pretend she's bipartisan.

We all know this and I think the voters of Maine do too.

The voters in Maine have a choice between a proven bipartisan Senator and a Democratic hack. I think they will chose bipartisanship, as they don't want to be dominated by the radical left wing.
