Fascist dictator supporter.

The musical Evita is the real world equivalent of Springtime for Hitler.

The musical Evita is the real world equivalent of Springtime for Hitler.

I love Evita. It's so sarcastic, cynical and not supportive of Peron's actions at all but yet some won't give it a chance simply because it is sung Tongue

Here's an example of the cynicism I was talking about...

Show business kept us all alive
Since seventeen October 1945
But the star has gone, the glamour's worn thin
That's a pretty bad state for a state to be in

Instead of government we had a stage
Instead of ideas, a prima donna's rage
Instead of help we were given a crowd
She didn't say much, but she said it loud

Sing you fools, but you got it wrong
Enjoy your prayers because you haven't got long
Your queen is dead, your king is through
She's not coming back to you

Why do you think I compared it to Mel Brook's musical within a movie? Wink

The original Mel Brooks film is great, a true classic. I still haven't seen the musical so I can't comment on that.

*cough cough*

Well, i'm in argentina at the moment, so I'm as close to an expert as you'll get, I suppose Wink

Seņor Peron-Dictator, but not really Fascist.
Eva-Liked money and power.

That's pretty much it. Option 3.

I'm currently reading Mary Main's Evita: The Woman With the Whip , which I understand was the basis for Evita . It's a critical biography of Eva Peron, but I'm yet to formulate my own opinion of her

Option 3, also.  Her heart was in the right place, but the methods were too crude.

I'd recommend the book although I'm only about 30 pages into it. I recall reading somewhere that it Evita is based on it but I've never seen the musical

Yes, I've read about the influence as well. Perhaps I'll pick it up.
