Beattie, from the ALP, will almost certainly still be Premier in a couple of weeks.

ALP has a huge majority and is winning in the polls, so...

Also, Springborg, the opposition leader, had a family crisis last week when his father-in-law killed himself.

If it wasnt for that, this'd be an exceptionally boring campaign.

It's the same scenario in NSW and VIC... the Government isn't doing an especiallly good job... but the opposition has failed to get any real traction.

The Coalition has done such a piss-poor job that it wouldn't surprise me... It's just incredible to think of the size of the majority.

With 73.5% of votes counted, Labor is predicted to win 60 seats, the Nationals 16, the Liberals 8, One Nation 1 and others/indies 4.

Assuming ABC projections hold Labour gets back the three seats it lost in the by-elections (2 from Libs, 1 from Nats) , but looses three others to Libs (in one case, because of the deselected labour incumbent running as independent and loosing by a small margin to a Lib). In addition, Nats gain a seat from an independent. That seems to be it, though some seats will be decided by postal votes. Labor is guaranteed 57 seats in the worst case scenario at this point, though 60 looks more likely.

Beattien is a little bit of a knob, but good on him. Vague comisserations to Springborg and co.

Next up, VIC and NSW, (ie the important ones Wink)

No, the important one was Tasmania and we've already had it Wink Grin

Any polls for those two?
