Hello! I'd like to join the Regional Protection Party, is this where I do that?

This is the place to register for Atlasia. I invite you to read up on the major parties in Atlasian politics here (RPP, DA, and JCP) and choose whichever party best fits your political beliefs.

For a quick breakdown, the RPP is a big-tent conservative party, the DA is a big-tent centrist party, and the JCP is a big-tent liberal party.

That would be alot clearer if your party leader would actually get back to my PMs with a party summary for the introduction thread Wink

As DA Secretary, give me about 10 minutes and I'll PM you a short blurb.

EDIT: Sent

Any of the newly registered members (came in waves while I was away for holiday, didn't they?) that have questions, feel free to PM me. I am the Secretary of the Democratic Alliance and one of the at-large Senators. I also happen to be a fairly new member myself, so I can assist with the beginner's transition.

You must realize the JCP has nothing to do with religion Tongue

Which is why the JCP is my least favorite party.

None of the parties relate to religion... Do you ever get tired of talking out of your ass?

There isn't no Democratic Party here in Atlasia, you can read the parties here. But welcome to the forum.

Just changed it!

That party is dead, the ones that are still active are JCP, DA and the RPP.

Now I am the DA party. Good enough for you?

Welcome to the DA. As DA Secretary (and hopefully soon to be Deputy Leader), feel free to PM me with any questions. And please chime in in the DA Convention thread and introduce yourself.

I will, but how do you get in to that?

Right in the first page of threads. It's the May-June Convention page. Just post as you would anywhere else.

Ugh. Sorry to see you go, though I'd prefer you'd have stayed.

I echo this. You will be missed Fritz.

Well I do, so I want to change to a Democrat.

Get a few more members and you have a party.

It seems to me parties don't last very long here in Atlasia.

Pretty relative. What's a long time in Atlasia?

Re-register when you have 25 posts. I don't like this new trend of brainless newbies registering when they have less than half the required number but no one questions the registration and they just let it go.

So make it a month. Tongue

Welcome to Atlasia. I'm sure you're flattered that the centrist and right-wing parties are fighting over you Tongue

Will the JCP not make a move? Tongue

What are the parties here and what do they stand on?

Also, how exactly does the government and everything work?

This is the introduction to Atlasia thread. It is a brief intro. Also feel free to PM me for additional info.

Regional Protection Party- Republicans, moderates, populists, libertarians- the so-called "big tent" of Atlasia. Preserves the rights of regions to retain their desired governments.

Democratic Alliance- Liberals and Moderates. Mostly non-confrontational and attempt to work with both sides, they do however, have only a minority share of the electorate and win usually because of cross-party compromises.

Jesus Christ Party- Liberals, Socialists, and Other Left-leaning groups. Has nothing to do with Jesus Christ. Has everything to with bgwah aka Jesus aka Don'twithhimorhe'llkillyou. They have large numbers but less variety.

Don't try to favor your own party too much. The thread I posted has brief descriptions of each party as written by their own membership. It's more even handed.

The RPP has a grand total of one populist, maybe two, tops. The DA isn't a liberal party, it has many economic conservatives and centrists, liberals account for maybe a few members. And Bgwah is not a dictator. (Certainly nothing like DWTL)

DA- liberals and moderate. Barnes PM is like -6 both ways. That isn't centrist. And I know bgwah isn't a dictator, he's pretty cool to me.

So our whole party is based on one member? It has a handful of liberals, a handful of conservatives, and a bunch of centrists. We are widely seen as a centrist party, not a center-left one, and usually don't care at all about partisan affiliation. It's a party more about ideas and successful legislation than where our members sit on the political spectrum.

I saw a few random parties...is the JCP, DA and RPP the only major parties then?"

There is the LNF, but they are more of a satirical party than a major actor.

We have more distinguished Atlasians than any party.

I didn't say you didn't. That may be true and it may not be, but all of your distinguished Atlasians have since become disillusioned with the current game. The LNF is also home to someone who deems it acceptable to post swastikas on the forum and a member that is one of the worst criminals in Atlasian history.

Thank you for your support and I humbly accept your nomination for President...

I'm just kidding things don't happen that fast do they here? You guys really are support active

We try to support activity. The RPP and JCP have pretty substantial machine vote blocks, which are basically inactive members of the game that are turned out to vote around elections. But even so, the members that those voters are turned out to support are almost always active members of the game. And the DA, usually enough to swing elections, usually votes for the more active candidate, so the game tends to support substantial involvement.

By the way Hamilton your characterization of the RPP as the "big tent" party full of moderates and such is not true.  You, tmth, Vepres, and ben are the party's only true moderates in my eyes.

Then they just gained another one

We don't have enough to judge that by yet. Time will tell.

As you can tell from the 2 pages of posts following your question, Bob, the answer is:

"With a lot of sniping, bitching, one-upmanship and ego-driven personality clashes, but all good since we're bound being in the same club with the same interests."

In other words, a lot like the real Congress. ;-)

No! The beast has become self-aware! Dave have mercy on us.
