http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=541&ncid=716&e=2&u=/ap/20041019/ap_on_he_me/flu_vaccine

How long until Bill O'Reilly and the archconservatives start calling for a ban on them?  Smiley

True, in a sense.  My immune system is stronger if I don't get flu shots or be around people that spray down the world with Lysol. Wink

I'm sure they'll be supereffective; they'll cause all of the flu viruses to surrender. Smiley

It's a partisan joke. It's not trolling, although it's pretty much the same thing.

In any case, true men work through pneumonia.

I was more amused by this story than anything.  Actually I was superamused by "Freedom Fries".

I intended this as a little bit of humor.  I apologize if it offended some.

Great Britain.  Smiley  To be fair the US certainly did a great deal but only after Great Britain's initial intervention.

Also, to be fair, our aid to the French could be called payback for their aid in the Revolutionary War and for their pressure Britain which helped to bring an end to the War of 1812.

Yeah, when did the French jump in?  After Saratoga when it was almost definite we wouldn't be conquered.

The shots will arrive in January, too late for the real rough part of flu season.  IN other word  the French arrive a day late and a dollar short.  How French of them.

Oh geez ... are we really going to have this discussion?

First, history lessons.  The war began in 1776.  Saratoga was Oct, '77.  The French came in Feb, '78.  Cornwalis was defeated in Oct, '81.  The Battle of Saratoga DID NOT guarantee American victory in the Revolutionary War but it did prove that an American force could win a battle against the British.

Second, the US didn't enter WWI until 1917 when there was only about a year left in the war.

Good.  It probably saved us a million men and left our post-war economy in better shape than the European powers.

We entered WW1 in time to stop the Last German offensive.  You know, the one where they almost took Paris even with us there.  So we kinda saved their butts by getting involved.

The French got into the Rev War after they knew we wouldn't be crushed.  We won at Saratoga and proved that the british weren't going to crush us.

The US should've never entered WWI. There was no national interests and not entering could've prevented Hitler from coming to power.
