Well she'll definitely be the best looking head of state though her politics are horrendous. But not surprising given the country.

Her win was not too shocking though.

It was probably because the incumbent Social Democratic government is not really popular and Josipovic wasn't the strongest candidate.

The terror attacks might have caused a few extra-% for the center-right too ("law and order").

Canada and Australia are extreme with 97.7% and 97.2% respectively. 1000 Croats voted in Canada and 1050 in Australia. Funny how Croats in those two countries are much more massively right wing than American Croats.

Josipovic was the strongest possible candidate the left could have fielded. He is a lot more popular than the government.

All observers agree he lost because the government is unpopular, but Sincic role was decisive. If the left wing vote had gone to a standard left wingers, who would have endorsed Josipovic in the second round he would have won.

Her win was not a shock after the first round (but still a surprise), but the first round result was clearly a shock. Everyone thought Josipovic was ahead by 5-8% and only a couple of months earlier he was widely believed to be able to win outright in the first round.

Good to see you focus on the essential.

Well, to be fair: There's currently no female head of state or head of government that's really hot.

But you are right that KGK is likely the most "good-looking" for her age.

There is *ahem* a reason for that...

Yeah, I thought about the stories of Croatian war criminals entering Canada and figured the same could be true of Australia, but why not the US then? More restrictive immigration rules/better control?

Why is Ivo Josipović disliked? Did he do something wrong?

Woah, I guess if I meet a Croatian-Canadian I shouldn't discuss politics with them.

Josipovic is personally quite popular (which is why he was expected to win easily), but the government led by his Social Democratic party is highly unpopular because of the continuing economic crisis and the resulting poor living conditions for ordinary people (like the home evictions Sincic movement is protesting).
