What is Delaney's goal in this vanity run? I can't imagine he's delusional enough to believe he has a chance. Is he hoping to get a bit of exposure so that he can be a national figure rather than just an obscure Congressman from Maryland? I'm perplexed.
My guess would be gubernatorial or senatorial run, without having to languish in the House while waiting for it.
More likely he'd end up like Thad McCotter.
Seems like the most likely answer. He probably got bored of being in the House and knew that he wouldn't have been able to beat Hogan, so he figured he could just spend his personal fortune on a vanity presidential run and wait for the governor's mansion to open up in 2022.
