Why do blue dog Dems on this board want to lose the Senate so bad?
Huh

It's the Bernie Hacks (like yourself) who are going "PRIMARY JOE MANCHIN" or "PRIMARY HEIDI HEITKAMP" in states with high GOP PVIs. If, by some alien space bats, Paula Jean defeats Manchin in the primary, Paula Jean will lose harder than Tennant did in 2014.

Okay, so who are you going to run in the special to replace Manchin?

EDIT: Oh wait lol WV fills vacancies by gubernatorial appointment. R+ 1 for four years.
It isn't guaranteed Jim Justice will win reelection; his approval ratings have plummeted since he switched parties. If West Virginia does elect a Democrat in 2020 (which I see as being likely), all Manchin has to do is resign the day that Democrat takes office, and a D is appointed to fill his slot. Smiley

When "progressives" say you'd lose in a landslide but in reality you'd unite the Democratic Party and win in a landslide.

Well, he could unite the progressives and the SJWs.... Against him.
Being stubborn and childish like that will give us 8 years of Trump, and maybe 8 years of Pence. Have fun.

Bernie voted to spend a quarter billion of US taxpayer dollars on a defense system for Israel so that they could kill Palestinians without consequences, and I still voted for him.
He also cosponsored a bill to dump nuclear materials in a minority-majority town in Texas, but this isn't a crapping contest on Bernie Sanders.

My point is, the SJWs and progressives cry like babies when they don't get what they want, and wind up giving us President Donald J. Trump.

Getting the Democratic nomination doesn't entitle you to the vote of everyone who historically voted Democrat.
So you'd rather have a conservative Republican than a moderate Democrat?

If the Democrat is bad enough, I don't want them to win.
That didn't answer my question. Conservative Republican or moderate Democrat?

Manchin will never win the nomination but if he does, it is the biggest chance for a 3rd party in many decades. Not only is he conservative & has not supported gay marriage (Don't Ask Don't tell vote opposition), spoke out for defunding Planned Parenthood once, but he is also a climate change denier.

Also, when a Democratic President is a climate changer denier, there is no hope left. The fate of the world is at stake here & there is no bigger issue than Climate Change. You can think of compromises in other areas but not on Climate Change.

What kind of terrible human being are you if you believe in Climate Change & would support Manchin in a primary over other Democrats?

https://www.manchin.senate.gov/newsroom/press-releases/manchin-responds-to-pope-francis-on-climate-change

He believes climate change is real.

Every Climate Change Denier including Pruitt say they believe Climate Change is real. It is new "In thing". This is the same guy cheered withdrawal from Paris Agreement. Anyways, people are free to support who they want, but what does it say of the values of the party if Manchin is the nominee.
It says we're being rational again, like we were in 1992, 96, and 2000.

It won't happen. The Democratic Party will soon be run by the progressives, and they want to "purify" the party of moderates and even center left members. They will suffer badly from this.
There's a growing belief that every Democrat should be ultra-left wing, and if you aren't, you should be primaried. This will undoubtedly hinder our chances for a House or Senate majority in 2018 or even 2020.

He clearly fears the all-powerful Paula Jean Swearengin.

Manchin personally contacted & did an interview with TYT & said he wanted to come back again. Sanders won every country in WV. Despite some Trump/Sanders voters, Sanders remains pretty popular. So Manchin will make some overtures to the left.
In the primary, Sanders got 51% and Hillary got 36% of the popular vote. Tell me, where did 13% of the vote go?

If Sanders was as popular as you claim he is (lol), why didn't he hit at least 60%?

Susan Collins in multiple areas is more liberal. Manchin didn't support Don't ask Don't tell vote while Collin supports gay marriage. Collins is strongly pro-choice while Manchin even once wanted to stop funding to Planned Parenthood.

Collins was the only GOP Senator even 2-3 years back who didn't want to repeal the ACA. Collins has a good environmental record. Collins was the only GOP senator to vote against Pruitt. In some respects, Collins is better. In other areas, Manchin is maybe a shade better. It is not an ideal choice & would kill the Dem party.

Coal is a dying industry & will largely be wiped off in 10-15 years. Climate Change is threatening the planet & Dems go for a coal loving Manchin for a dying industry for those 3/4 votes of WV?

If it's a one-on-one race, probably this.

Why does Manchin lose his home state and Kentucky? I thought he'd do best in these states.

The green is manchin
I highly doubt that, considering Manchin is a very appealing politician; just look at his 2012 Senate race. Manchin hit over 60% of the popular vote despite his state going heavily to Mitt Romney.

I know OP is probably a joke, but if Manchin somehow actually was nominated enjoy watching millennial and minority turnout absolutely crash and the Green party surge in support.
See, you guys keep threatening us like "oh I'm gonna vote for crazy Jill Stein if the Democratic nominee isn't 100% socialist," and its really like how a spoiled child pouts when their parents don't buy them something they want. Would you rather have a moderate Democrat or a conservative Republican in the White House?

Also, have fun watching minority turnout crash if Sanders is the nominee.

Your boy Joe Manchin comes from a state that's 94% white, just like Vermont. I fail to see how he would make a difference in that field.
If he picks Cory Booker or Kamala Harris as his VP, then he could easily balance the scale.

I think there's a decent chance Sanders could pick Harris as his running mate.
I doubt she'd accept.

If she won't run on a ticket with Sanders, then she definitely won't run on one with Manchin.
Except, Manchin is much more electable than Sanders. Bernie has such a grim past, while Manchin does not. If Bernie were the nominee, the GOP would tear him to shreds, and Booker or Harris wouldn't want their careers destroyed alongside his.

Manchin could also pick Elizabeth Warren if he wants to appeal to the "progressives" in the party, but she's not a minority.
