To insist that anybody in 2012 living in one of the wonderful Western nations is "oppressed" by the government or our culture is taking a sh**t on the legacy of their ancestors who actually were oppressed by the governments and culture of our wonderful Western nations in the past.  And, it should go without saying, they are also taking a sh**t on many people living in 2012 who don't have the luxury to live in one of our wonderful Western nations.  To suggest you can use the same word to explain...whatever horrible thing you think society is doing to you and what a child born in a N.Korean prison camp is going through is a sign you don't really understand what oppression really is.  Honestly, it's kind of sad/pathetic/gross.

Which aspect of our law is geared towards Christians? 


(I agree our culture is, at least on the surface, geared in a Christianish direction by inertia if nothing else..and obviously our law/culture favors heteros over others...to say otherwise is ignorance...not to say being gay in a Western nation in 2012 is bad, it's as good as it's been in thousands of years...maybe ever, you hear different stories on the subject as far as ancient Greeks and Romans go..my point being, it's better to be gay in 2012, than it was to be gay in 2002, 1992, 1982 or any other time in recent history.).

Still, even that produced it's share of horrible inventions, like the atomic bombs or bigger and better guns,

The atomic bomb saved hundreds of thousands of lives at the end of WWII, and arguably kept the West and the USSR from fighting, possibly saving millions and millions more.  And thank your god WE were the ones to discover it first heh?  And starvation kills a LOT more people than guns do yet we have plenty of food on this planet.  sh**tty governments are much MUCH worse than any gun.  "better" or not.

But my point is that these are just tools, tools can't be "horrible" (unless they suck at their intended purpose).  The "atom bomb" (and it's scientific offshoots) has clearly (in my mind at least) been an overall positive for mankind.  Yes, there has been some tragedy as well, but can't the same be said for, say, the scalpel?  Or the hammer?  Or microbiology?
