What if a new provision was put into the drinking age, stating that if you are over 18 and a student in an institute of higher learning, it would be legal to drink?

Would there be any reason to oppose this?

Plus, extra incentive for attend college...

It seems silly. It'd make IDing someone much harder.

What if they get a degree at age 20? Do they go back to not being able to drink?

They should lower the drinking age to 18 anyway, regardless of whether or not they attend college.

Shouldn't students be more concerned about grades over drinking?

Yes, but they should be more concerned about grades than eating pop corn, yet the latter is legal.

So students go to college to drink and not study, correct?

Some do, I'm sure, but that's not the point. The issue of studying is entirely irrelevant to whether alcohol should be legalized.

So should you have to be 21 to eat popcorn, or do you agree with me that the fact that they should be focused more on grades is not a good reason to ban something?

No one said the two were. The implication of StatesRights's post was that if a person should be focusing on grades more than a certain thing, that certain thing should be banned.

They're more likely to be distracted by porn than alcohol, too.

hmmm... that's debatable. But unlike porn, alcohol creates excessivle lude behaviour and can be dangerous.

I don't think students should be going to college to be solely concerned with their grades at the expense of everything else in their lives.
