I think so. He turned grassroots Democrats against gun control (go look at DU). As a result now the Democratic Party has reached a point where it won't fight for gun control, and since the Republicans obviously won't, that makes gun control dead.

Howard Dean has brought an end to the gun control essentially.

As a national issue?  Perhaps, but it was dealt the most damage by the 2000 Presidential election.

No. He officiated at the funeral, though.

Why would I? I don't own any guns. And I would never send money to an organization that harms the Democratic Party.

The NRA had become more bipartisan though,If you look around you will see they endorsed Ted Strickland in 2004 and didn't they also endorse Berine Sanders?

No my goal is to help the Democrats, and dropping gun control helps them. I don't give a f**k about what the laws on guns are because I don't believe banning guns reduces crime, but I also don't own any or plan on owning any. So gun control does not affect me in any way whatsoever.

Every now and then they endorse a token Democrat, usually a pro-gun incumbent who is in no danger of losing. Doesn't mean crap. They didn't endorse Jim Webb or Jon Tester.

I think the 1994 midterms may have gotten the ball rolling to get the Dems to lay off gun control.

Uh, Gabu, just because Dakota Red here finds communist chicks with AK-47s hot (which, granted, some of them may be), doesn't make him a libertarian....

Straha, I'm not a f***ing anarchocapitalist. I'm actually a liberal-conservative who dislikes some of the more populist stances the Republicans have had of late.

Can't you get that tthrough your lizard brain?

Gun control is not a threat to gun ownership.  It is simply regulating guns in reasonable ways to help law enforcement and reduce crime.  The NRA exagerated gun control to its own financial benefit.  We all know that criminals will always get guns and that guns don't kill people - people do.  However, we can't have a free for all with guns any more than we can't eliminate traffic laws.

Gun Controllers settle for bureaucratizing gun ownership as a first step to removing guns. Once they've removed the guns the next step is to lurch towards socialist dictatorship.
