I think I agree. Of course it's good thing that (some) Republicans are finally rejecting Trump, but if they could stomach all the racism, and the misogyny, as well as all of his prior conspiracy theories and attacks on democracy, but solely draw their line at a coup, that doesn't speak much to one's character. This hasn't come out of nowhere, it's the culmination of Trump's behaviour over this entire 4 year period.

I generally oppose lethal force used by police but this has got to come to an end.

If the police start killing people on the spot, especially innocent protestors, fire will be returned. They better be smart this time.

Bluntly put, when dozens if not hundreds of these protesters have stormed the capital and taking it over by force, and are firing shots, and their cohorts outside haven't left, there are no innocent protesters at this point.

Give them two minutes to disperse the exterior via a warning of lethal gunfire to commence in 2 minutes. Anyone left oh, take the f***** down

The DC National Guard can be activated for "state" duty without POTUS, even if POTUS is technically its Commander-in-Chief, since he delegates this authority down the chain of command. Pence, as VP, is an officer of the Senate, and was actually in the Capitol, which would explain why he was in the discussion about securing the Capitol.
