The committee’s job is to get the 4 best teams into the playoff. I believe they have succeeded.

The Arizona State press statement on his hiring was really really weird; it sounds like the ASU administration knows nothing about football and thinks they were hiring a new CEO for some kind of marketing firm or something. The full release is here, but this is what it reads like:

Oh, also, apparently Edwards doesn't know that the Arizona State mascot is the sun devils? All in all, its a very weird situation that is likely to go very very poorly.

Since you are scoring the results, you can interpret picks for the national championship game any way you wish.

Personally I think you should have to get the specific team right...but I understand if others see it differently.

Maybe it would have made more sense to just make Randy Shannon head coach?

Nobody wants an old washed up coach who failed. They want young blood that is exciting to recruits and players. 0% Shannon goes there with the intention of sticking.

Absolutely shameful that I fell behind and didn't post this first.

Anyway, it was a good hire! FSU's recruiting class will stop bleeding out and we're still better than Tennessee.

Does Chip Kelly wish that he held out until now so he could go back to Oregon instead of UCLA? Does he do it anyway? Would he even want to go back at all?

I'd argue playing in the Rose Bowl is a better environment for recruiting than Autzen Stadium.

In any event, UCLA really only has to worry about USC in any given year, while Oregon has to deal with Stanford, and possibly Washington or Washington State when both those teams are having good seasons.

He was Oklahoma's offensive coordinator in the early 2010's and won a natty as a QB. Only reason I knew this before hand is because I go to Oklahoma.

Great points. While I agree that the Rose Bowl is an unbelievable selling point, I also counter in pointing out that UCLA can never sell that place out. But the one thing that has to really stick out about Oregon being a better job, is that Phil Knight/Nike money and swag, plus the best-in-the-nation facilities that Knight has paid for. Chip Kelly, of all people, knows that value.

But you are right. UCLA should be a perfectly fine job for him. If he can't make the Pac-12 champ. game every other year, then he really is as overrated as they come.
