McElwain, current two-time SEC East champ, fired at Florida for performance...while Butch Jones still has a job...lol.

First word is that Dan Mullen, Mike Norvell (Memphis HC), Scott Frost, and (obligatory at this point) Chip Kelly are the main targets. I've heard multiple sources mentioning Norvell and Mullen, so I'd assume they're the top targets.

If I'm Florida, I hire Frost. As Head Coach at UCF, he'd know Florida recruiting turf very well.

I'm sure they'll talk to him, but the consensus seems to be that Frost is bound for his Alma Mater, Nebraska.

And no, he would probably NOT know Florida recruiting well at all; 2016 was his first year ever in the state. His area of expertise would be the plains states and especially the Pacific Northwest, where he spent a decade recruiting and coaching.

October 31
Miami(OH) at Ohio (Bobcats seem better this year)

November 1
Central Michigan at Western Michigan (WMU still has some good talent and Central is fairly meh)

November 2
Northern Illinois at Toledo (Toledo has been surprising this year, in a good way)
Navy at Temple (Navy's triple option will be too much for Temple)

November 3
Marshall at Florida Atlantic (Thundering Herd over Kiffin's squad)
UCLA at Utah (Utes are still better than UCLA even if they're in a bit of a down year)

November 4
Penn State at Michigan State (Spartans were exposed badly against a mediocre NWestern team
Ohio State at Iowa (Playing in Kinnick isn't easy, but the Bucks are for real and the Hawkeyes aren't)
Clemson at NC State (Tigers roll)
Virginia Tech at Miami(FL) (The U hasn't played anyone worthwhile this year, but I think they get their first big win of the Richt era and prove they're for real this year)
Oregon at Washington (pretty easy one. Taggert still has some building to do at Oregon before he can compete with a fully functional Washington team)
Stanford at Washington State (Wazzu got exposed twice in recent weeks and Stanford has improved.
South Florida at Connecticut (UConn is bad and USF isn't)
UCF at SMU (UCF is good and SMU isnt)
Arizona at USC (Rich Rod keeps his bounce back season rolling and USC isn't great)
Colorado at Arizona State (Colorado took a big step back from last year and ASU is pretty good)
Minnesota at Michigan (Brown Jug stays in AA. Brandon Peters brought some life to a listless Michigan offense, even if it was against Rutgers)
Wisconsin at Indiana (I'm going to keep picking Indiana until they finally pull one out. Wisconsin gets exposed in their toughest test to date)
Auburn at Texas A&M (Auburn rolls against a mediocre A&M team
Illinois at Purdue (Boilers pull one out in a battle of some of the B1G's worst teams)
Kansas State at Texas Tech (home field advantage proves decisive for the Red Raiders)
Western Kentucky at Vanderbilt (Toppers roll)
Baylor at Kansas (Baylor is atrocious this year. Kansas is simply awful)
Syracuse at Florida State (Babers gets another win over a marquee ACC team, even if the Noles are in a down year)
Georgia Tech at Virginia (UVA seems pretty decent this year)
Appalachian State at Louisiana-Monroe (Cajuns lose to a good App St team)
South Carolina at Georgia (Smart barrels over Muschamp)
Wake Forest at Notre Dame (ND is for real)
Iowa State at West Virginia (Cyclones are also for real)
Maryland at Rutgers (Rutgers may be better this year but they're still not better than Maryland)
Army at Air Force (tough one, but I think Army is better)
Northwestern at Nebraska (Pat Fitzgerald keeps the magic going against dead man walking and soon-to-be Scott Frost, Lincoln Riley)
Oklahoma at Oklahoma State (Pokes take Bedlam)
Mississippi at Kentucky (Kentucky is okay and Ole Miss is a cluster this year)
Colorado State at Wyoming (Wyoming isn't good this year, even with a potential No. 1 pick at QB)
UT San Antonio at Florida International (I don't know much about either squad, but I think FIU is a bit better)
Texas at TCU (TCU takes out Herman's longhorns; Texas won't be the Big 12's laughing stock much longer though)
Southern Mississippi at Tennessee (Butch Jones is a joke and he finally loses the worst game of the year)
LSU at Alabama (LSU is better than a loss against Troy would suggest, but not good enough to take down the Tide)

October 31

Miami(OH) at Ohio - homers win it on Halloween

November 1

Central Michigan at Western Michigan - homers win it

November 2

Northern Illinois at Toledo - Toledo is good

Navy at Temple - This is unanimous so far, hmm....

November 3

Marshall at Florida Atlantic - Kiffin hasn't let me down....yet
UCLA at Utah - Utah wins narrowly at home

November 4

Penn State
at Michigan State - These next 2 would be nice upsets

Ohio State at Iowa

Clemson at NC State

Virginia Tech at Miami(FL) - I still happen to think Miami is legit, close win at home

Oregon at Washington - meh

Stanford at Washington State - one more washington loss and pac 12 is out of playoff?

South Florida at Connecticut - CT lol

UCF at SMU - I almost went to this game, upset in Dallas

Arizona at USC - USC wins but only because they are at home

Colorado at Arizona State - despite USC loss, Arizona State is pretty good

Minnesota at Michigan - ah home field saves again

Wisconsin at Indiana - big upset pick of the week, Indiana stuns at home

Auburn at Texas A&M - Iron bowl coulldddd decide it all or maybe not

Illinois at Purdue - guess you could call this a big upset pick too

Kansas State at Texas Tech - Kansas state has impressed me more lately

Western Kentucky at Vanderbilt - meh

Baylor at Kansas hopefully 0-12 Baylor if only because they are in Kansas Wink

Syracuse at Florida State
- FSU wins at home, plus bowl game is on the line by the end
Georgia Tech at Virginia - meh idk, I think Virginia wins at home

Appalachian State at Louisiana-Monroe - pretty clear I think

South Carolina at Georgia - same

Wake Forest at Notre Dame - please prove me wrong

Iowa State at West Virginia - underestimate Iowa State at your own risk Sad

Maryland at Rutgers - I think Maryland

Army at Air Force - Air Force is better than some think

Northwestern at Nebraska - Northwestern has competed with top 10 teams multiple times this year

Oklahoma at Oklahoma State - forgetting big 12 play for a second, Oklahoma State is likely eliminated from playoff contention, TCU vs OU may determine too the next week

Mississippi at Kentucky - Kentucky at home

Colorado State at Wyoming - again Wyoming is impressive so far

UT San Antonio at Florida International - we love the roadrunners!

Texas at TCU - you know with a couple of slightly different outcomes this could determine big 12 championship contention, especially if Texas had beaten OU

Southern Mississippi at Tennessee - they are lucky this is at home

LSU at Alabama - nah not gonna happen

If Iowa State beats TCU and wins the Big Twelve Championship Game against either TCU or Oklahoma (yes, they're playing one), I think the committee puts them in, over a one loss Georgia (the only loss coming to Alabama), Two loss Notre Dame or one loss Washington.

Georgia's only beaten Notre Dame this year...and Washington really hasn't beaten anyone yet (other than possibly Stanford) to this point, While Iowa State has victories over a ranked Oklahoma squad, a ranked West Virginia squad, and would have victories over a ranked TCU and Oklahoma State squad (if OK State stayed in the top 25), plus a second victory over either TCU or Oklahoma. That's a resume that belongs in the playoff, plus the committee has already been known to make odd decisions before, putting Ohio State in last year when they didn't win their conference, so this would be an extension of that.

The extension of that would be if they put Georgia in the playoff with only one loss (to Alabama). Iowa State does have those huge wins but they also have 2 losses to unranked Iowa and Texas. That doesn't belong in the playoff.

It would be like Appalachian State defeating Michigan. Indiana has been basically an FCS team for a good two decades now at least.

#FakeNews. At least for the last 5 years, IU has been a mid-tier B1G team. Their statistical profile over the same time frame suggests a team in the 60th percentile of all FBS teams, or roughly top 50 (see http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/ncaa). rutger is a much worse team.

They took Michigan into overtime, Wisconsin hasn't really proven itself yet imo and I think they may be caught by surprise, it'll be a close game regardless, though. (Wisconsin is favored by 10.5 in the odds right now which I think is probably their ceiling)

What's amusing about this statement is that Indiana is 1-2 against Rutgers.

Wisconsin's team isn't like last years. Last year if they had a QB and maybe 1-2 better receivers they could have contended for a title with that defense. Defense is still good, offense hasn't played a complete game all season. Indiana will be easy, Michigan and then Ohio State, not so.
