No I haven't. I've yet to meet a single "AAAAAH STOCK UP IN YOUR HOMES, WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE!" types that so frequently get mocked. Everyone I've talked to basically just has the attitude of "it's basically a bad cold, who cares."

I suspect that the paranoid public overreacting over the swine flu is a quintessential Dead Unicorn Trope.

No, but a friend of ours, age 47, died from it two weeks ago......but she had other health issues, which seems be the only way it is deadly.

I was probably the only one in my family who didn't freak over it, since it actually hit the schools my little brothers go to. They didn't get it. I've never worried about getting sick, cause I can't afford to go to the hospital anyway, so what happens happens.

BRTD, my crazy sister thinks it's a harbinger of the Tribulation.  Of course, she freaks out everytime there's an earthquake anywhere in the world.  But her pastor gets what he calls "a word of knowledge" from God about the future.  Sorta like Pat Robertson.  And his record of accuracy as just about as good.

I noticed my mother calmed down when my aunt in France, who's a nurse, said she wouldn't get the flu shot. My mom doesn't tell me it's doomsday anymore, for example.

The Special Administrative Region of Hong Kong has caused a large number of its citizens to be freaking out.  I see folks wearing masks everywhere, and this little machine takes your temp by zapping your head with some laser beam or something as you pass through immigration.  If your temperature is elevated, then plan on flying back from whence you came without passing go. Now granted the population here is packed in like sardines, and if you don't stay alert while perambulating around, you  will bump into someone within half a second, but still ... .
