I feel woefully uninformed, but didn't he visit it in his first term?

(Expect a lot of globe-trotting in term 2....except Iraq and Afghanistan, since Biden says Obama doesn't want to go there).

No. He went to Cairo in his first term. But he did visit Israel in 2008 during his run for president.
