I could see it. Virginia may be socially conservative, but it certainly is not fiscally rightist. There are relative few states in which such an editorial would play poorly (think Mountain West, Arizona and New Hampshire).

I agree, although I'd even venture that it wouldn't play badly in the Mountain West.  Just because they don't like government intervention doesn't at all mean they won't (somewhat hypocritically) support government pork to them.

A year ago at this time, the thought of electing Webb was ridiculous. I love how you are predicting six years into the future.

He's not predicting anything; he's saying something is likely.
