Montana Sen. Steve Daines, the head of the National Republican Senatorial Committee and the first member of his party’s leadership to back Trump’s 2024 bid, has tried to keep the former president in the fold with regular briefings on candidates and the party committee’s strategy, shifting tactics from the last cycle when the NRSC – under different leadership – steered clear of engaging in GOP-vs.-GOP contests.

“I don’t,” Daines said bluntly when asked if he believes Trump would support Mooney or Rosendale. “I speak with President Trump frequently, and he wants to win in November ’24 … with candidates who will win.”

Arizona remains the enormous question mark here, but this is very good news. (Also, this would position Daines very strongly to succeed McConnell if Trump wins, and might even position Daines pretty strongly to succeed McConnell if Trump loses. Historically, candidates recruited to run by a particular campaign committee leader have sometimes remained loyal to that person; this is how Chuck Schumer leapfrogged Durbin to succeed Harry Reid, for instance.)

Well, Mooney's dead, but people are still underestimating Rosendale! Again, he represents most of Montana's Republican voters and he still has the backing of the Club for Growth. At the very least, he's going to be a thorn in Sheehy's side unless and until he drops out or passes on the race.

Trump doesn't have a snowballs chance of winning. He'll be lucky if he even makes the Ballots in several States. The way the Indictments are going Trump will be disqualified from the Presidential Ballot. If Jack Smith charges him on J6 the 14th Amendment comes into play.

If Trump endorses Sheehy that's ballgame imo. Seems like it would be difficult to try to run to the right of a Trump-endorsed candidate.

This is a major blow for Matt Rosendale. He already has too much bagage to win the primary in this state. In 2022, Rosendale voted against the resolution to support the people of Ukraine while it urges the U.S. and its allies to provide additional defensive support to Ukraine and promises humanitarian relief and it also condemned Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Rosendale has also voted against a resolution to support Finland and Sweden's inclusion into NATO while a larger NATO is among the keys to stand up to Putin and stop Russia's agression against Ukraine. Congressman Rosendale voted against the resolution to support the human rights of the Uyghurs and members of other minority groups residing primarily in Xinjinang's Uyghur autonomous region and safeguard their distinct identity. Rosendale voted against a bill called the Rural Opioid Abuse Prevention Act that expands the allowable uses of drug funds under the Comprehensive Opioid Stimulant and Substance Program administered by Department of Justice

Trump is pissed at Rosendale for not endorsing him. If Rosendale endorses him then there's a chance he might endorse back

That sounds on par with what I'd expect from Trump.

Can confirm that Congressman Rosendale is quaking in his boots at the UWS-led advertisement onslaught against him on Talk Elections Dot Org which brutally exposes his isolationist, small-government philosophy

This is GREAT news for Senate Republicans, as having Sheehy and Justice as nominees in MT and WV (respectively) would increase their chances of winning in those states (well I mean regardless of the R nominee WV is gone for the Ds but still)

That and Trump has great influence over Republican voters. He has the power to sway a big chunk of GOP voters toward a certain candidate. So if Trump can encourage this chunk of GOP voters to vote for candidates who are more likely to win in the general, this could mean good news for Republicans in those two states.

I'm not saying that Trump WILL endorse Sheehy and Justice, its just that now with Trump saying that he will not endorse Rosendale and Mooney, it makes it more likely that Trump will endorse the former two.

MT = Lean R

WV = Safe R

No refunds, idiots! But we'll watch Tim Sheehy become the most overrated candidate in the cycle.

Well I mean he's certainly a better general election nominee than Rosendale, and I think he has the best shot out of all the potential Republican candidates (most declined to make room for Sheehy) to beat Tester.

Fratboys shouldn't be senators but the governor literally assaulted a reporter. Tester can certainly lose, but it won't be because Sheehy's a great candidate. He has his own baggage, and as Pollster said it is one of the reasons Ossoff lost his first election. Tester probably wins if the economy is good and Biden wins reelection.
